Please talk to someone such as a parent or teacher about your thoughts. Everyone has bouts of depression but I can assure you that things will get better!

Suicide - Noun. A permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I hate these kinds of posts. Anyway, don't do it. Life always gets better. I've had my lows, (Major, extreme lows), but now I'm on top of the world. It always gets better, and suicide is not the answer. You'll cause more grief to your family and friends in the longrun if you kill yourself than if you stick it up until it gets better. Trust me, I've known many people who commited suicide and have seen what it's done to their loved ones.

I wish you would try to be positive and try to see the good things in your life. Why do you fight with loved ones. Try to get to the root of the problem. Calmly try to feel like everything is just blown up in your head cause your depressed. It's hard to see a way out of it cause your not thinking straight. But you really do need to talk to someone about it and get them to help you feel better. You would hurt a lot of people if you killed yourself! and people need you. You have a purpose in life. Don't end it! You can talk to us. We are your friends...

JoCool,

I know things seem bleak right now. Many of us have thought about ending it all, but things do get better. I know how suicide affects family members. No matter what you think about your family members, I am sure they do love you , they just may not be good at showing it. They and your friends will feel so terrible if they lose you! I know - I have lost a sister this way, and the guilt and pain are awful.

PLEASE look in the phone book right now and find a suicide hotline and call it. You need to talk to a trained person right now. Then, you need to go to the doctor and get started on anti-depressants to help you feel less depressed. Talk to your school counselor (if you are still in school - I don't know how old you are) or another trained counselor. There are some you can find with a sliding fee scale through your city's social services if cost is an issue.

If you are a spiritual or religious person, you should also talk to you religious leader.

I know I sound like a mother, but I do know that these are the steps you need to take in order to help you feel better and just function day-to-day until you feel your life is getting better.

Take care and remember that there are MANY people who care about what happens to you. If we, total strangers to you, care this much, how much more must your family and friends care about you?

Please check in tomorrow and let us know how things are going!

I know how you feel.. i think the only reason i havent killed myself is because of my mom, i loved her so much and i wouldnt wanna disappoint her. and also because of my brother. we've been the best of friends our whole lives, i dont know what he wold do without me, i mean itd be so different for him. i always think about killing myself to get revenge for my dad and show him that's how much i hate him. i think about writing suicide notes to him that say things like "happy?" or "you win" just to let him know i killed myself because of him so he could feel bad for the rest of his life. several months ago he pissed me off so bad i got scissors and slashed up my arms just to scare him. and it worked. if he pisses me off like that again i'll prolly do it again. it's not like im gonna die. i'm also thinking about threatening to kill myself when i get mad at him just so he'll learn how to respect me. i mean he calls me a whore because i wear shirts that show half an inch of my stomach when i put my arms up. and im not whining about ***** things like curfews, i mean hes just flatout mean to me. he favors my brother and treats him so much more better. if something ever happens that we dont see (like if we went in the kitchen and saw juice spilled on the floor) and my brother says he didnt do it, he blames it on me, and if i say it wasnt me he calls "liar" for the next while. a few months ago he slapped me and grabbed my face and slammed it on my bed.. then completely denied it when i told my counselor. and what i find funny is that hes been a total jackass to me since right after my mom died, like he's hated me my whole life an has been holding it in. but i'm stuck with him for the next 4 years or so and when i move out and become a model i'm never speaking to him again. thats one thing thats been keeping me from commiting suicide, the fact that when im 18 i can move out and live my own life. make it better. im also taking paxil (addicted to it at that) and it helps. and ive been trying to stay away from my dad pretty much 24/7. i dont want him in my life, he just makes it worse and does nothing to help make it better.

also you might wanna see this. http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/

Hate to sound like a bitch, but if suicide is your answer, I have no sympathy. I dont feel bad for the people who dont attempt to help themselves.. instead they choose to cop out and end it. No ones life is perfect and if youre having issues talk to someone (not a bunch of kiddies.. but a professional who can get you the help you need) and try to turn your life around. How old are you if I may ask? Is life that bad? Dont let a bunch of small things turn into one big thing.. try to solve each problem one at a time not all at once. If youre having problems fighting with family.. sit them down one at a time and tell them how you feel. Im sure theyd understand.

You are being slightly harsh by saying you have no sympathy for the suicidal. I have been in JoCool's situation many times in my life so I can understand how awful it feels.
You do offer some good advice though. If Jo really does feel suicidal then he/she (sorry Jo - I don't think I know your real name) should seek professional help. Venting to people on a message board may make things easier for a short time but if you want to get to the real root of the problem you need to talk to someone who can really help you.
I know this is gonna sound contrived Jo but please, please don't give up. Things do get better - even if right now it seems like you have no hope and no way out. I know cos I've been where you are now. But now my life is really starting to go somewhere and I'm glad that I didn't give up when things were at their worst.
You may feel like noone wants you around but you did say that you have 2 very good friends. Talk to them and I'm sure they'll be able to offer you the support you need. Never underestimate your friends. Today I confided in a friend of mine even though I was sure that what I had to tell her would hurt our friendship. In fact, it actually brought us closer.
I wish you all the best Jo. Please, please don't give up.

I know its harsh, and Im sorry.. but thats how I feel. If someone I knew committed suicide I would feel bad for the death.. but not for the cause of death. I have always felt that suicide is a cheap way out and the wrong answer- no matter what your problems may be. I, personally, have never been depressed so its hard for me put myself in someones shoes. Im a generally happy and optimistic person, so my points of view may not be the best. Even if it may not seem so, things do get better, like you said.

She was just stating how she felt. No reason to call her a shrew.

Jo, I hope you picked up your phone and called a help line. Maybe a good psychiatrist would help too.

Sweet little Jo was not asking for anyone's opinion, she asked for someone to please help her out. If you dont have any help or encouragement to offer than just leave the thread alone, dont bring your idiotic opinions into it. If your little sister or loved one came and asked for help and was told something like that you wouldnt like it. Cheer up Jo
