Lightbulb Happy Days and Family Matters Similarities

Have any of you noticed there are many similarities between the 2 shows Family Matters and Happy Days. For instance:

They both start out with a minor charachter who later becomes the star of the show, and most of the episodes revolve around that charachter. The Fonz/Urkel

On Family Matters, Steve Urkel ends up moving in with the Winslows, on Happy Days, the Fonz ends up moving above the Cunningham's Garage.

On Family Matters, Steve Urkel chased Laura for years, and eventually ended up going with her, and the 2 got married. On Happy days, Chachi chased after Joanie for a few years, then eventually got her, and later married her.

Both sitcoms have an overweight father, and many jokes are cracked at the weight issue throughout the show's run.

Both shows during the last season, have just a few people left in the cast.

Both shows have a charachter who was written out and never reffered to again Judy/Chuck

Hi Urkel2003

I could see it alot more with Family Matters than 7th Heaven.

somebody brought that up awhile back.

its not hard to see why a show would want to borrow a few ideas from a successful long-running show like Happy Days.... and tweaking the cast is necessary if they want to keep it on the air sometimes

On Happy Days, both Richie and Chachi loved basketball, and were on their high school team. On Family Matters, Eddie loved basketball, and I think he was on his high schcool team. Also in the episode Fonzie's Funeral Part 2. Fonzie dresses in drag as the "widow Fonzarelli", and in the Family Matters episode "Grandmama", NBA star Larry Johnson guest stars as "Grandmama".

I know what yer point was, I just quoted the wrong post unintentionally, or it could've been pure laziness... whatever it was, it wasn't intended as a comment on your post
