Past or Present...

I figured I would try writing another one....tell me if it sucks...

Nate looked over at CD...she could always feel when he was looking at her...she smiled at him, he smiled back, then they proceeded with their work...this happend all day long, every day, for the past several months...the two had been dating...exploring the new found feelings they had finally confessed to each other...a few moments later Nate stood up...
Nate(pointing to a file):"I gotta go check on this with the ADA...I will be back in 20 mins,then we can head to lunch.."
CD:"Ok..."

Magda and Jinny walk into the the bull pin....
Jinny:"no I will not go with you to yoga!"
Magda:"come on Jinny, we have not did anything fun together in a while.."
Jinny:"you call yoga fun?"
Magda:"yes, and relaxing..."
Jinny:"well Mag, if you want to do something fun with me, take me to the movies or something.."
Magda:"But I got a good deal on this yoga class...plus the instructor is male, single, and VERY cute..."
Jinny:"Mag I'm not going just so you can flirt with the instructor..."
Magda:"I was not meaning for me!....you are the one single here..."
Jinny:"I did not think it mattered with you..."
Magda(glaring at Jinny):"Jinny come on...that is the past can we just forget it ever happend..now this yoga guy is really nice...I met him when I bought our memberships...and.."
Jinny(cuts Magda off):"you already bought ME a membership?..."
Magda:"yeah...I knew I would eventually be able to talk you into it..."
Jinny:"nope..no way...I don't care if the instructor is cute...I mean...a GUY who teaches yoga???....please I would rather stay single..."

CD looked up from here desk...it looked like she had seen a ghost...actually she had...
CD(shocked):"Paul?"
Paul:"Hi Candy.."
CD:"what are you doing here.."
Paul:"I need to talk to you"
CD:"Im sorry but I really do not want to talk to you..."
Paul:"Please....there are some things I need to tell you...it is important...just come to lunch with me..."
CD:"I really can't...I am having lunch with someone else.."
Paul:"please come to lunch with me...I am your ex-husband, so you should atleast come and listen to what I have to say..."
CD really did not want to go, but she figured it must be
important.....so she called Nate on his cell...
Nate:"Basso"
CD:"hey Nate...how is it coming along?"
Nate:"Im almost done here...
CD:"well I can't have lunch with you....something came up..."
Nate:"what is it?"
CD:"nothing important....I will see you when I get back...bye"
Nate could sense something was not right...they always had lunch together...but then he just figured maybe it was women stuff so he forgot about it and went back to what he was doing...

CD:"ok lets go"
Paul(happily)"alrighty..."

Jinny:"ok...ONE class...that is all..."
Magda:"see I knew I could talk you into it!"
Jinny:"no actually you bugged me into it...now lets get back to work..."

Nate returned and sat down at his desk...he did not want to invade CD's privacy, but it was killing him not knowing why she stood him up for lunch...he hoped maybe Jinny or Magda knew what was going on...
Nate:"hey do either of you know where CD went?"
Jinny and Magda were too busy fighting over the yoga class to notice that CD even left with Paul....
Magda:"I guess to lunch..."
Nate:"we were supposed to go together but she called me and cancelled.."
Jinny:"you can't expect her to have lunch with you every single day....I would go nuts if I had to eat with my partner everyday..."
Magda:"hey!"
Nate:"ok thanks anyway.."
Jinny:"no problem.."
Nate knew if anyone knew anything it would be ...yes...Raina...Raina had been in Kate's office when Paul was there but she was back at her desk now...in her own little world
doing some work...
Nate:"Hey Raina"
Raina:"yup?"
Nate:"Do you know where CD is?"
Raina:"I don't know...when I was in Caps office she was talking to some guy...I think they left together...maybe they went to lunch.."
Jinny:"CD left with a guy?...I did not even notice.."
Magda:"me neither...I wonder who it was.."
Nate was not sure what to think...he knew CD would never cheat on him but he could not understand why she did not tell him she was going to lunch with some guy....
Nate:"thanks Raina"
Raina:"anytime..."
Nate decided to just eat something out of the vending machine and wait till CD came back..

CD and Paul sat at anchorside...
Paul:"wow, you look really great...I see your hair has gotten long"
CD:"thanks...I see your balding.."
Paul:"well uhh..I have been under alot of stress lately..."
CD:"listen could you just get to the point...I have to get back to work.."
Paul:"ok...I made a big mistake...I still love you..and I know you still love me...I think we should give it one more try.."
CD:"you have got to be kidding me..."
Paul:"nope it is real...I want you back.."
CD:"are you crazy?....I am completely over you...I don't want you back and I will never want you back..."
Paul:"I know you are still upset with me because of all the cheating, but I have changed..I know now where I need to be...with you"
CD:"Im going back to work..."
Paul:"no wait...there is alot more I need to tell you..."
CD:"I think I have heard enough..."
Paul:"please..lets just have dinner together...and I swear after that, if you decide you really do not want me, I will leave you alone..."
CD:"fine!"
Paul:"ok I will call.."
CD:"whatever.."
CD gets up and walks out...

Jinny:"we heard you was at lunch with some guy..."

Jinny:"ok...we were just checking..."
CD:"ok..."
CD went and sat at her desk....
CD:"sorry I could not have lunch with you...I just had a few
errands to run.."
Nate:"ok whatever"
CD:"what are you mad at me?"
Nate:"of course not...why would I be mad at you?"
CD:"I don't know...that is why Im asking.."
Nate:"just forget it...Im not mad..."
CD:"ok then..."

a couple hours later CD's cell phone rang...she looked at the caller id..it was Paul...she got up and walked over to the vending machines and then answered...
CD:"yes?"
Paul:"ok I made us reservations at that fancy resturant by the lake.."
CD:"yeah fine...is that all"
Paul:"yeah...do you want me to pick you up?"
CD:"Paul this is not a date...I will meet you there...what time?"
Paul:"7:00"
CD:"ok bye.."

she walked back over to her desk....Nate had been watching her the whole time...
Nate:"who was that..."
CD:"oh just someone about some repairs Im getting done to my house.."
Nate:"it must have been pretty personal.."
CD:"Nate what is your problem.."
Nate:"well you are being so secretive today..."
CD:"Oh Im sorry..I was not aware I had to share every little detail of my life with you!"
Nate:"well the last time I checked we were more than partners.."
It was not that CD was doing anything wrong...she just knew if Nate knew Paul was back in town, he would be all protective...Paul thought he was pretty macho also so she did
not want a fight...she just wanted to get Paul out of her life for good...
CD:"Im going to the bathroom!"
Nate:"why so you can call your repair man!"
CD just gave Nate a dirty look and slammed her chair under the table and then walked off...

Jinny:"so when is yoga?"
Magda:"Saturday at noon"
Raina:"you two do yoga too?"
Magda:"well actually, this is our first time...we are taking a class at the Birdy Lane center"
Raina:"hey that is where I go!"
Jinny:"well wouldn't ya know..."
Magda:"great!...will you be at Saturdays class?"
Raina:"oh yeah...did you hear if you bring someone with you, your membership is half off AND you get a free yoga mat?"
Magda puts her finger over her mouth and shakes her head
Raina:"huh"
Jinny:"so THAT is why you wanted me to go so bad!!"
Magda:"come on Jinny...that is not the only reason...I wanted us to spend some quality time together..."
Jinny:"oh please...forget it...I am definally not going now..."
Magda:"oh yes you are..you already promised..."
Jinny:"fine whatever...so who are you going to con into going with you Raina"
Raina:"well.....I was thinking about captain..."

CD returned from the bathroom....Nate felt bad about the way he acted...he did not think CD would ruin their relationship and partnership by cheating on him...he thought to himself "maybe she really did have erands to run and maybe that really was the repair man on the phone"....
Nate:"CD I am sorry"
CD:"for what?"
Nate:"for the way I acted and for actually thinking you were keeping something from me.."
CD:"it's ok...I understand..."
CD could not believe she was lying to Nate.....

Raina:"hey will you two come in Captains office with me to ask her if she will come to yoga with us?"
Magda:"I will.."
Jinny:"not me...I don't even want to bug her today...she was pretty moody this morning..."
Magda:"well then yoga is just what she needs!"

Raina and Magda walked over to Kate's office...Raina knocked on the door..Kate motioned for them to come in...
Raina:"so captain...what are you doing this Saturday.."
Kate:"oh no...what are you up to?"
Raina:"nothing really...I was just wondering if you would like to join me at my yoga class..."
Magda:"yeah me and Jinny are gonna be there also..."
Kate:"I don't know...yoga really isn't my sort of thing.."
Raina:"come on Cap...it will be fun..and it is a good way to release some stres.."
Kate:"well I guess I could use something to get rid of all this tension...ok what time?"
Raina:"noon...hey we could all have lunch together too!"
Magda:"sounds like a plan!"

the day was over now and everyone was leaving the division..
Raina:"bye guys...see you tomorrow"
Magda:"bye Raina.."
Jinny:"bye..I guess we better head home too..."
Magda and Jinny told CD and Nate bye and then left for home...
Nate:"so CD you wanna have dinner then catch a movie or something?"
CD:"well actually I was thinking I would spend a quite evening at home.."
Nate:"ok then I will come over...you want me to pick something for us to eat.."
CD:"well I meant I want to spend the evening alone..."
Nate was confused...first lunch..then the phone call...and now this..they had not spent an evening apart since they were together..
Nate:"CD are you getting tired of me?"
CD:"What?....how could I ever get tired of you!?"
Nate:"well I feel like you have been trying to avoid me all day!"
CD:"Nate I just wanted some time to myself!....we don't have to be together every second!"
Nate:"yeah but I want us to be.."
CD:"listen I swear I will make it up to you tomorrow night..."
Nate:"oh yeah?...how are you gonna do that?.."
CD:"well I can't tell you...it is a suprise.."
Nate:"ok ok fine...you have your "alone time" tonight...but we are spending the whole weekend together...deal(Nate puts out his hand)"
CD(shakes Nate's hand):"deal!"

CD and Nate went home....CD got dressed for dinner...when Nate arrived home, he got a call from his parents...they were having dinner at the fancy resturant by the lake and they wanted him to join them...he had not seen them in a while so he decided to go...

Paul:"I was beginging to think you were not coming.."
CD:"well I came...so what do you want to talk about?"
Paul:"let's order first..."
they both ordered...
Paul:"so..how have you been?"
CD:"good...really good actually...how is your wife?"
Paul:"we are getting a divorce...."
CD:"oh did you cheat on her also?"
Paul:"no...I did not love her...I still love you..."
CD:"oh please.."
Paul:"I do!...please give me another chance.."

meanwhile Nate and his parents arrived at the resturant....
Nate's Dad:"so son...how are you these days?"
Nate:"Im good...how about you two?"
Nate's Mom:"same as usual.."
Nate's parents got into a conversation about what they were going to order...something caught Nate's eye...he saw CD on the other side of the room with some man...Nate could not believe what he was seeing!...."who is that?" he thought to himself...
Nate's Dad:"what are you going to have?(Nate did not answere)....Nate?...NATE?"
Nate:"oh...sorry..uhh I will just have whatever you two are having.."

Paul:"how is work?"
CD:"same as always...I was shot a few months ago in my abdamon"
Paul:"what??...are you ok?"
CD:"obviously...I had a pretty quick recovery actually"
Paul(puts his hand on cd's):"Im so sorry..I wish I could have been here to help you.."

Nate saw the guy put his hand on CD's...he felt his heart drop..
Nate's mom:"Nate you seem distracted tonight?"
Nate:"oh Im just...I got alot on my mind"
Nate's Dad:"girl trouble?"
Nate:"uhh no...I guess Im just tired.."
Nate's Mom:"we won't mind if you go home...you need your sleep.."
Nate:"No I want to stay"

CD:"how is your work?"
Paul:"Im of the job actually.."
CD(laughing):"no wonder you are back..."
Paul:"no it has nothing to do with that..."
CD:"yeah sure.."
Paul:"I love you so much...lets go to your place...and make love..."
CD wrinkled up her face...after being with Nate, the thought of sleeping with Paul was just gross...
CD:"no way..."
Paul:"come on...I know you want to...its been three years...you need it..."
CD:"do you actually think that I have not been with anyone since you?"
Paul:"well don't tell me you have!...i know you better than that Candy"
CD:"don't call me that...and for the record you don't know me as well as you thought...I am with someone now actually, and I love him very much....I can't believe I am even sitting here with you now!"
Paul:"you have found someone already!?"
CD:"what the hell Paul..you found someone when we were still married!"
Paul:"I told you I was sorry...so tell me about this guy...you can't possibly be serious about him"

Nate was still watching CD and the guy..."maybe it is a her cousin or something" he thought.."or maybe it is her ex-husband"....He did not know if he should walk over there...he decided to wait ...

CD:"well I met him about 3 years ago...we have been dating 5 months.."
Paul:"where did you meet him??"
CD:"work..."
Paul:"do you love him?"
CD:"yes I do.."
Paul:"I don't believe that"
CD:"well it's true.."
CD and Paul finished eating...Paul kept telling CD how much he loved her and how much he wanted her back..CD just kept objecting...finally they decided to leave..

Nate saw CD leave and the guy had his arm around her...he decided to leave and ride by CD's house to see if the guy was there...
Nate:"I am gonna go ahead and head home...see you two later.."
Nate's mom:"bye honey..we love you"
Nate's Dad:"bye son"

CD went home...Paul followed her home...she did not want him to, but he did anyway...
CD:"are you stalking me?...I am a cop..and I will arrest you.."
Paul:"no I just want to spend some more time with you.."
CD:"I think we have spent enough time together.."
Paul:"please let me stay with you tonight..."
CD:"hell no..."
Paul:"Im broke...I have no where to go..."
CD did not want him to stay with her, but he was her ex-husband and she did feel kinda sorry for him..he was so pathetic...
CD:"fine...you can sleep on the couch but you are leaving first thing in the morning!"

Nate pulled up to CD's building just to catch a glimpse of her and Paul walking in together..he figured he would just wait outside for the guy to come out, and then he was going to confront him...

Paul:"this is a nice appartment.."
CD:"thanks.."
CD walked into her room and got a blanket and pillow out of the closet..she brought it out to Paul and then told him goodnite..then she walk into her room..Paul followed her..
CD:"do you mind?"
Paul:"what?"
CD:"I would like to change and go to bed.."
Paul:"why?it is still early...and it is not like I have not seen you change before.."
CD:"well I have to get up early for work...and I don't care if you have seen me change before, you are not going to see me now...now if you don't go in there I am going to make you leave!"
Paul:"fine"
Paul went and laid down on the couch...

Nate sat in his car waiting..."what is taking that guy so long?" he was thinking to himself...

now CD was in bed...she had been laying there a few mintutes when she felt someone crawl in the bed with her and start kissing her..it was Paul and he was completely nude..
CD jumped up and turned on the light...
CD:"Oh My God!...what do you think you are doing??"
Paul:"gee you act like I am a complete stranger!...we used to be married, remember?"
CD:"unfourtantly I do remember!..."
CD ran into the livining room and picked up all of Pauls clothes, and then opened the front door, then threw them out...
CD:"now get out of here now before you are arrested!"
Paul:"CD please!"
CD:"NOW!"

Paul walked outside...naked as a jay bird...he put on his pants and shoes and then grabbed his shirt and walked out side....Nate was just about to fall asleep in his car when he saw Paul walk out...with his shirt un-buttoned and he was fastening his belt...Nate jumped out of the car...
Nate:"hey!"
Paul:"yeah?"
Nate:"what is your name?"
Paul:"Paul DeLorenzo"
Nate:"CD's ex-husband..."
Paul:"yeah..do you know her?"
Nate:"she is my girlfriend!"
Paul grinned and started buttoning up his shirt...
Paul:"that is weird...she did not mention any boyfriend..."
Nate:"so what went on in there Paul.."
Paul kept grinning...
Paul:"buddy...I think you know the answer to that"
Paul patted Nate's shoulder and then walked off...Nate was so mad...he had never been so mad in his life...why would CD do this to him?
