Default So Rachel And Joey Are Kaput...

I kinda felt that they weren't going to end up together, but to put the kaibosh on the whole thing in the second episode? I would have thought they would keep it going for a little while.

I guess since they have a lot of storylines to wrap up, since this is going to be the last season, it was a good move to end things sooner than later.

Well, at least we now know there's not going to be a heart wrenching breakup scene this May when Joey leaves the gang and goes of to Los Angeles - and his new series.

What does everyone else think about this episode?

I'm glad they remained just friends. I'm in the minority I guess when I say I want Ross and Rachel together and I hope that is the direction that the writers are taking by not putting Joey and Rachel together.

The Ross/tan thing was hilarious as a side. My most favorite comedic Ross episode ever was the leather pants one but this one was very well done. You can't quite beat seeing Ross covering himself in a pasty/powdery/creamy/vaseliney mixture but very good on this one

I'm glad they broke up but I didn't really think this episode was that funny. It did have it moments but it really wasn't that great, imo.

LOL, yes, I thought that was really clever. Poor Ross. It seems like everything happens to him! Remember when he got his teeth whitened? LOL.

I'm right along in the minority also. I was happy that they decided to just remain friends. For some reason it just didn't seem that they should be together. I don't know what it was. Yeah, Ross's tan thingy that he was going through was funny. (lol)

Sad Joey & Rachel

I wish they'd stretched it out for a couple more episodes, at least. Given it a little more time and another chance to get it going. Maybe they will. Who knows. This last season seems to be kept under wraps pretty well. No hints or clues.

I sooooowish they'd have stayed together, and the way they did it was so stupid anyway. We're supposed to believe Rachel would whack Joey around the head, and that Joey would let it go that easily? No.

Other than that, this episode was average. I didn't find the Ross storyline funny, except for his "I'm an eight!" and the element of surprise factor when we first saw his tan.

But I loved the Phoebe/Monica story! They're my two favourites, so it was great to have them together, and Amanda was hilarious! Monica, who is the only one saving this season from being awful, remained fantastic, as she immediatly accepted Phoebe's reasoning for trying to "cut her out". Great story.

My hopes weren't so high up that I actually thought they'd stay together until May or anything, but like you, I also thought they could've at least kept them going for a few more episodes.

The episode was ok, and the only thing that kept me interested was Ross at the tanning booth.

Well, I'm glad Rachel and Joey are just friends, so I was fine with that part. I thought the actual break-up scene was very sweet.

And I loved Monica, Phoebe and their friend Amanda. Her fake British accent was just so funny: "I feel like a perfect arse." Jennifer Coolidge did a great job.

The Ross bit was funny too but, as per usual, they carried it on just a little too long. His first trip to the tanning salon was much funnier than the second.

I'm glad it's over, it was too awkward IMO. They didn't seem comfortable with it, neither did the actors, Jen Aniston and Matt LeBlanc even said they didn't want to see Joey and Rachel's friendship ruined by them getting together, and they agreed Ross and Rachel belong together.

Her and Joey would have lost something if they had been paired as more than friends.

I prefer Rachel with Ross myself and I'm glad the door is open for that. They still care for each other, which is why Ross was 'Fine' when he saw Rachel paired with Joey, even though Ross had so-called moved on with Charlie.

One thing that's interesting though is that this season so far seems to be a bit lacklustre. I'm wondering if this is deliberate in a way. Perhaps if the show appears tired and unfunny, it'll help fans accept that the show needed to be ended and make the fans more accepting of Joey's spin-off. Maybe not, but it does make one wonder...
