Do you think the Golden Girls is a spin-off of Mama's Family?

Just because Rue & Betty happened to be on this show together doesn't mean the next show they were on together is a spin-off of the first show! Wouldn't that make Golden Girls also a spin-off of "Maude"?

It's simply not possible. A spin-off is a series which stars a character which came from a previous series.

Case in point: The character Rhoda Morgenstern was a regular on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". The Rhoda character was then given her own series, the character "spun-off" off of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" into "Rhoda", hence, "Rhoda" is a spin-off.

No characters from "Mama's Family" went into another series. Actors, yes, but characters, no.
