I saw MANY bloopers in Roper's Niece. I'm doing these from memory so I might have forgotten some. In the TC book, it says on page 247 -- "Threes Company blOOpers!", it says "Studio Audience Member Mocks Chrissy - In the first-season show "Roper's Niece," a scene at the end shows Jack giving Janet back her cameo that she had to pawn. It's a touching moment. So touching that Chrissy says, 'Oh Janet, your cameo!'. Listen closely and you'll hear some guy in the audience mockingly echo the line during an unusual moment of emotional silence. Maybe that's why Chrissy left the show: She just couldn't handle the voices any longer."
Also, these I saw myself. I noticed when Karen, Roper's niece, she untied her dress so all you see is her slip (is that the right word?). Listen... you will hear a FEMALE voice in the audience say either "she's a hottie" or "she's a hot one" right before she unties her dress. I think that is really rude. I think it meant to be a whisper but it came out too loud! Don't these people know that they are on television? |

Also, when Mr. Roper tells Jack to move out, it's another sad moment (don't worry, he doesn't move out, obviously). All of a sudden, you hear this one person, probably in the first row, laugh histerically. And I don't mean a laugh. I mean a laugh worse than Woody Woodpecker!! Then the rest of the audience catches on and they start laughing. But, there wasn't supposed to be any laughing at all! Jack was supposed to move out!!!

I remember tha bizzare cackle. It also made the audience laugh, as you said.

This is from another thread that I started. If you have a tape of that episode and can confirm this, then this is another blooper. There is one scene that took place in the Roper's apartment that I remember very well because it seemed rather ridiculous to me. In the scene, Jack and a girl are inside the Ropers apartment. I believe they were getting romantic when Mr. Roper entered the apartment and scared them. At this point, the girl runs off and disappears into the lower left corner of the screen. I cannot tell for sure, but it appears as if though she opened a door and ran inside a room. Jack tries to run after her but is stopped by Mr. Roper. Did you ever see a small room in that corner of the apartment? I never did, so I think that was rather bad editing. It may have made more sense if the girl ran into the kitchen on the lower right corner of the screen. |
