I remember watching a particular episode of UM, but I guess I was too creeped out to pay much attention to it, since I was home alone and all. Anyway, it was something about a Jamaican man who raped women or something, but it was creepy, because one of the survivors of his crimes, was telling the story about how he would chant and then tell his victims that they would pay for their crimes, and kept them hostage at knifepoint in their own homes, until he was done with raping them. I think he was Widada something or other..... *scratches head* Did they ever find that guy?

I remember that case well as I just saw it a few months ago.
Wudada (sp?) wasn't Jamaican, he was likely French Caribbean, possibly Guyanese. And he raped and nearly killed only one victim (that we know of): the survivor, Sarah Beard, whom you mentioned. That was back in 1988, and they still haven't found him. The authorities don't even have a picture of him. |

I wonder why police never got a picture. Wasn't Sarah Beard attending college when this happened? I mean, if Waddaa or whatever his name was, was a friend, then wouldn't he have been known to others around there. Also, the guy had a weird deformed hand which would be easy to spot, so I'm guessing he's probably fleed the U.S., possibly back in wherever he was from...

This case has been mentioned many times on this board. Try doing a search in order to get some more information. I have seen the case several times. UM did this story way back in the late 80s and they redid the segment for the show on Lifetime, I think. His hand was deformed, and so it would seem as though he would be easy to spot.

The odd thing is that a long time ago (about the early 90's I think), I do remember seeing a case similar to this one, which may have been the original segment, if that is true. I remember seeing a black and white sketch of a person in dreadlocks (the Lifetime segment had a color sketch of Widdada) in one case. However, I think in that case, the woman was murdered, so I could be wrong... |
