I actually joined the boadrs to find out the answer to that one, and i agree with you, that it was a real shocker at first. But, since then, i have come to realize that one does not become a superstar without that attitude, Kate Hepburn and Bette Davis did the exact same things, in different ways. You don't last decades in a medium without being a perfectionist and expecting the same professionalism from those around you. So, you can interpret it as mean, but you have to remember that the person is a mother of two, the President of a studio, and an actress trying to survive beyond a certain age, and it's stressful and tough, especially for a woman in the fifties and sixties. If an alcoholic like Joan Crawford shows up drunk, or a thespian like Richard Burton doesn't know how to get laughs, she told them, in no uncertain terms what she thought, she was brutally honest and frank and did not tolerate nonsense, she was a hard worker and expected the same from those around her, spoiled legends and lazy superstars did not take kindly to that, now the Vivian part is a different story, it took me a long time to get over that one, but Viv knew how she was and worked with her repeatedly anyway, would Lucy have answers for us now if we asked her what irritated her about Viv? Was it the stress of doing a comeback in 1977, with a special with her friend who was dying of cancer after a stroke, i just don't know about that one but would love to find out. Maybe someone fairer who knows like Tom Watson could tell us and not someone trying to sell more books by making everything sensationalized.

Look at it this way, KR - Nobody's perfect, even when you really want to think that they are!

Well said Mickey, we're all human and all have good and bad. Her generosity towards the people around her and not just friends and family is stuff of legend. But you don't hear as much about that side of things. But for every story of meanness, there is one of compassion.

I know how disheartning those bios could be, I read one on Bob Hope and about all his adultery. I kinda regret reading that, something like that could tarnish one's thoughts about him. Luckilly though i'm still a fan and have many of his movies on tape. I just wished I taped more of his NBC specials back in the 80s and 90s.

Don't you remember how awful those specials were? The man was always better than his material. And don't you prefer knowing the truth about him, you still love him, so it doesn't matter anyway. His monologues were the best part of those shows. Or sketches with Lucy.

Yeah I know it's often corny, but i'd take the corny comedy of Bob Hope any day over the "hip" comedy of 'Friends' or 'Will and Grace.' You just don't see sketch-comedy specials like those anymore.

I know, back then there were so many variety shows on TV, now there are none, so these people go on talk shows instead. I disagree with you about Friends Will and Grace and Everybody Loves Raymond, they are often quite funny and are the only shows i watch every single week.
