Thumbs down What was CBS thinking

This show is too much like King of Queens - down to the husband/wife looking similar and the layout of the house is almost identifcal. CBS shouldn't have aired a show like this - it's not even funny.

Actually, it's not like King of Queens. I personally find it to be a great show, as do others. Apparently CBS did some good thinking, because it has gotten good ratings.

You should give it a chance--it really is a good show--funny too! I've been watching since its debut last season, and it's one of the few newer sitcoms I've actually stuck with.

I don't see the similarities with "King of Queens " (another GREAT show). For instance, Doug and Carrie don't even have any children. Also, Doug seems to be more goofy, and Carrie is more of the brains. In this show, I think both the husband and wife are a bit goofy (and they often admit they're not the "perfect" parents)---I think they're portrayed more equally.

All in all, I think the entire cast has great chemistry, and it consistently makes me laugh out loud each week.

I have caught a few episodes of this series and it has its monents.
My one problem is they make Mark Addy hide his accent. I think they really could have added another dimension to the show by making his character British.

Some episodes are quite good.....others are just average. My wife thinks the show stinks but watches it because it's a lead in to E.L. Raymond.

I keep thinking of Jami Gertz in the movie Less Than Zero and it gets me excited.

I'don't see the similarity with the Kings of Queens either.Probably because the man is chubby and he got a beautiful wife but,the similarity stop there. If you don't like this show,it's o.k. I respect your opinion but, please respect ours please! If you don't have good things to say about it you know what you have to do.

If anything, Still Standing reminds me of Roseanne. Not in their appearances, but Bill and Judy remind me of Roseanne and Dan Conner by their style of sarcastic parenting and the fact that they're high school sweethearts and former wildchilds.

Both shows have the single aunt with men trouble who's always there.

The show is really funny. I often like it better than E.L. Raymond. I even like the kids, and that's saying a lot coming from me. They really matured in looks over the hiatus.

I've never missed an episode. The hubby thinks Jami Gertz is hot. *shrugs*

I see you've started analyzing sitcoms too.
Have you been peeking at my notes?

I know. But you hear it slip out every now and then. My mom thinks I'm hearing things, but it's there.

Yeah...that is a good point. I like these kids better than Roseanne's though.

In truthfullness, most sitcoms are just clones of each other. Workplace sitcoms are subtle clones of each other, Friends sitcoms are subtle clones of each other, Family ones....
