It's a Heart-Stopping Race to the Finish Line When TV Land Celebrates The Breeder's Cup

Network Airs 24-Hour Marathon of Mister Ed

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 -- TV Land pays homage to the Breeder's Cup,
the most prestigious extravaganza in horse racing, with a 24-hour marathon crowning the network's very own prized thoroughbred -- Mister Ed -- on Saturday, Oct. 25. Some enjoy the excitement and heart-pounding thrills of thoroughbred racing, but TV Land viewers can enjoy the alternative of thoroughbred sleeping. Beginning at 6 a.m. ET/PT, the network will air back-to-back episodes of everyone's favorite talking horse and his wacky
hijinks with owner Wilbur Post. This year's Breeder's Cup will be held in Santa Anita, CA on October 25. The event is the grand finale of the racing season and crowns the best of the best thoroughbreds from around the world.
This classic TV series which aired from 1961-1966 is emembered around the world as one of the finest American sitcoms of the 1960s. Shortly after Wilbur Post (Alan Young) and his wife Carol (Connie Hines), purchase their new home, Wilbur discovers an unusual resident in the barn -- a talking horse named Mr. Ed (voiced by Alan "Rocky" Young). Wilbur is the only human whom Ed will talk to, leading to his misadventures as the owner of this talking horse. Stories depict the chaos that ensues as Wilbur struggles to conceal the fact that Mr. Ed speaks.
Other characters in this comedy were Roger Addison (Karry Keating) and his wife Kay (Edna Skinner), the Posts' original neighbors. Roger enjoyed making fun of Ed but in reality truly did appreciate horses. He owned a racehorse himself and he was after all a descendant of Paul Revere. Later, Gordon Kirkwood (Leon Ames) and his wife Winnie (Florence MacMichael) became the Posts' new neighbors.
