I was at www.zap2it.com and they have this little section where it has facts about tv and movies and one thing that did surprise me was... That Roseanne was the first actress the casting directors thought of to play Peggy Bundy. It didn't say why she never did get the part or why she may have said no to the part. But my thinking is that they may have wanted her to play Peggy because they had seen her HBO speical.

I heard about that on the Married With Children E! True Hollywood Story. Roseanne was suppose to play Peggy like you said, while Bobcat Goldtwait from the Police Academy movies was wanted to play Al. If I remember correctly, the reason she didn't take the part was because they weren't offering her enough creative control or something like that. But I may be wrong. Whatever the case, I'm sure glad she didn't take the part. As far as I'm concerned, Married With Children is a load of crap!

Oops, I was wrong. It was actually comedian Sam Kinnison that was originally wanted to play Al. I believe Bobcat was their second choice or something.

MWC was good for what it was. I'm not a fan, but it was obviously never made to be something memorable, like Roseanne was.
Can you imagine if Roseanne would have taken the part? This board wouldn't be here right now! |

I'n not going to criticize a show that I never saw- I saw lots of episode of MWC. For me, it's kinda like Full House. It was good when I was younger, but upon second viewing as an adult, I a shake my head. Especially at the later seasons.
