Default Anyone remember King of Kensington ?

Who remembers this show, I remember watching this show as a kid in the late 70's but have NEVER seen it since. I remember it being quite simple yet funny.

It was about a guy named Larry King who lived in the suburb of Toronto called Kennsington, for some reason we was very popular with the local community. He ran a tiny convenince store and the characters from around the neighborhood would drop in and dump their problems on him, or get him involved in some elaborte scheme. Problem was no one ever seemed to buy anything,so how he made money is a mystery. At first he was a married man living with his wife and his mother, after a year or two his wife decided to leave him, then the focus was on him being a bacholeor living with his mother. His mother was very funny, always with a snappy comeback or a funny one liner,(think of a Sophia Patrillo) he then had a steady girlfriend, but it didnt last. He then met some woman who had a nickname for him, she called him "Flash", maybe it came from an intimate encounter with him, and the name stuck, who knows. The last year of the series seemed to revolve around the health club Larrys girlriend worked at. The series finale concluded with an idea that Larry and his g/f were going to get married. The theme song went like this;

When he walks down the street
He smiles at everyone
And everyone that he meets
Calls him king of kennsington

During the open sequence, hes wearing some sort of college jacket, walking down a crowded market, eating some peanuts, and literally waving at everyone he sees. He seems to know everyone and everyone knows him,much like if he was running for mayor. But he wasnt.

actually "kings of Kennsington" DID air in the US, though like many other shows from the Great White North, not very long.

I remember watching Kennsington on WTTG-TV 5 out of Washington DC back in the late 70s ( 78 or 79 ). However within a few weeks it was gone, replaced by Soap Factory Disco. Same with " TheTrouble with Tracy". That show aired in the early 70s on local Baltimore TV, but that too was only on tv for a few weeks.

Though its difficult, its possible to find some Canadian tv shows on US tv, mainly on PBS though. I recently caught an episode of Red Green on local tv in, of all places, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
