I haven't seen it yet, but being Lutheran I plan to. There was a movie on Martin Luther made in 1953 has anyone ever seen it? I never have and I wondered if it was good.

My grandma said she saw a special morning screening of it yesterday. She got tickets from an area Lutheran church. She's lutheran and so am I. I probably should see it since I've been lutheran my whole life, but for some reason I think I'd be really bored! This is my first time posting at the CC Movie board!

I'm not a Lutheran - but I'm close enough (Episcopalian). Our churches are close cousins
Anyhoo I haven't seen this yet - I will

I saw it. I thought it was a good depiction of his life, from what I know of it. Some parts were kinda gruesome...a kid hangs himself, a war scene, nothing we haven't seen before.

I saw it and liked it. I thought Joseph Fiennes, Ralph's brother, did a good job of playing the title character, and it is always good to see an old pro like Sir Peter Ustinov, who plays Luther's protector, Frederick of Saxony.
The film Sara is talking about is the one with Niall MacGinnis. There was a film in 1976 with Stacy Keach as Luther, which was based on the play by John Osborne. I liked all three of them, given that they are all products of their time. |

I thought this was like a superman lex luthor spin-off! Anyway- in History we had to learn quite a bit about why Martin luther founded the Lutheran faith.
