I hate to report this, since most of us "Wings" fans don't seem to like Roseanne. But Pavanbadal posted it in the Roseanne board. So this is another slap in the face to the life and times of Adam Hauck (That's Me).

This whole "Wings on NICK" fiasco was doomed from Day #1 (although I really don't know why)....It reminds me of someone who is hired for a job, or a couple that gets married, and you just KNOW that the chemistry isn't right, and it's not going to work out. It doesn't mean that there's anything WRONG with either of the parties involved, but things just don't "click"....I can't help but feel that that's what happened with "Wings'" stay on NICK.....at least when "Wings" was on USA, the show was treated as a welcomed and important part of the cable network! |

I think Wings is just too "adult" a show to be on N@N. I'm surprised Cheers and All in the Family are still on it. I hope another network picks it up soon. It's too great a show to be treated like this.

On this Roseanne thing, a couple of days ago I discovered that my local FOX station has picked up Roseanne. It's on from 8-9am. Since we get Oxygen and N@N, there's 5 hours (10 episodes) of Roseanne a day. Wings, of course, is only on once. But hopefully someday Wings will be on a cable channel that respects the show and airs it several hours a day, causing non-fans to complain that Wings is on every time they turn to the channel.

I better choose my words wisely here because I don’t want to offend any Roseanne fans, but this news doesn’t surprise me one bit. I only watched a handful of Roseanne episodes when it was on ABC , but it was enough to say that I didn’t care for the show. The same was true for another huge sitcom hit, “Home Improvement”. I did not care for either of these shows at all.
Snoopy was kind of going in the same direction as I feel. Wings is just a very different type of sitcom. The writing on Wings is more adult oriented and much of the humor comes from adult themes and a higher level of intellectual situations. That is not to suggest that only people that are “dolts” appreciate a show like Roseanne, it’s just that the humor is derived in more simplistic ways. I put Wings in the same category as shows like “Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore, Seinfeld, Frasier” etc, that rely on biting dialogue and adult situations, whereas other sitcoms such as Roseanne, Home Improvement, Grace Under Pressure (I think that is what it was called) or Alice etc.. those types of sitcoms have a completely different target audience and writing style and type of humor. I know shows like Cheers have succeeded better then Wings did on Nick, but Cheers also had more name recognition and Cheers was GIVEN a chance by having multiple viewings at prime time for months! I’m still going to add that I will always believe that Wings had a difficult beginning on Nick because when the show first premiered with the marathon of episodes was right at a time when the major War conflict began in Iraq. Nobody will convince me that it didn’t have an affect on ratings. Timing is everything, and I think that hurt the ratings of the show. Additionally, Wings was never given a chance to find its target audience because it was immediately moved around by Nick. Two weeks is not enough time to find an audience for a show. I’m not saying Wings would have done better then Roseanne, but the ratings would have been better under different circumstances. But I’m not surprised with this news, and I hope Nick had a limited contract on Wings and other cable stations can pick up the show because it just isn’t a good fit, and it’s almost like “what’s the point” if they are only going to air it at 3:30am? Had Nick been running Wings for the last 3 years at 9pm I could see moving it to the graveyard shift to bring in fresh material. But given that the show hasn’t even been on Nick for 6 months, is proof positive they had no commitment to the show and really could care less about promoting it or giving it a chance to succeed. |

At least we have a place to come and complain about this. I couldn't imagine if I had to just talk to myself about this issue. And by the way, no one from my job likes Roseanne being on N@N.
And now that I think about it, Roseanne was the ONLY show on N@N last week. So alot of people had no choice but to watch that show. Maybe the ratings will go down for it's regular timeslot. |

I honestly don't believe Wings did all that bad, It may not have scored as big of ratings as maybe Roseanne or Cosby or Cheers but it couldn't have been that bad, I thought I read somewhere that it did wonderfully on USA. I wonder if they would pick it up again, maybe we should write to TBS, USA, any network that might be willing to pick it up. I say TBS, they dont cut anything out of the episodes they air. |

A bit of a different direction, but it's like with another of my fav. shows Boy Meets World, Disney Channel has the contract for it until next year, and they butcher the show by cutting out parts that are "inappropriate" for their network and for the demo age group they are targeting. I say why bother to air the show if you are just going to ruin it for beloved fans, and I hate that Disney has banned 3 of the best BMW episodes of the series. It's freaking annoying! I know that if some network picks up Wings put its on at a good time, and airs maybe 2 or 3 episodes a day, it could do very well, and that would make Nick @ Nite feel like a bunch of donkey's behinds

Something that I've noticed is that even though "Full House" is getting an "Introductory Marathon", it's nowhere NEAR as long or as intensive as the "Roseanne" opening marathon was.....
Just another case of NICK playing blatant favorites! (By the way, I COULD be wrong, but wasn't "Roseanne" produced by the same production company that made "Cosby"? Hmmm....We could be ON to something here!) |

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it won't be long before other Carsey/Werner shows like the 90's Cosby, Grace Under Fire, 3rd Rock, and That 70's Show are clogging up N@N.
I agree about N@N playing favorites with their shows. Neither Coach nor Wings got a weeklong all-night marathon. But we should all be glad that Full House isn't getting a giant marathon. I can't wait to see if Full House bombs on N@N. Full House is a show that belongs at 4pm, when it's intended audience is getting home from school. I can't imagine it being a big hit at 9pm. |

I think Full House belongs on Nickelodeon or ABC Family.
