John Ritter memorial on Oct. 14:
The Memorial Service is going to be Tuesday, October 14 at the El Capitan Theatre -- but due to an overwhelming amount of mail, requests, etc. -- even this memorial is by invitation. Only 900 can attend. It's too bad, but he was SO loved, there is not a place big enough. I hope everyone understands. |

That's TOO BAD.
All of his fans should've been able to go. Do you know why they couldn't have had his service at an arena or stadium? THEN WE COULD'VE SHOWN THE WORLD HOW MUCH JOHN RITTER IS REALLY LOVED!!! |

But still....
dont you think that it would be soooooo cool.. IF WE/EVERYONE still went and stood outside of the place on the sidewalk!! just imagine the scene.. 900 inside.. but 1,000's OUTSIDE having their our own party! I think that would look amazing & BE amazing.. A Ticket shouldn't stop us all from going.. there is NO law that we can't stand on the sidewalk ![]()

Some people refer to memorials as partys because, although you cant do anything to change that someone died, you can gather to celebrate their life and share memories with others who loved them. Thats probably what he meant.

How does this invitation work? I was thinking I "might" be able to go. I'd really love to go and pay my respects, but I have to make sure that I am able to get in before I actually fly out there. |

Actually, it's kind of nice that they're having the memorial service for John at the El Capitan Theatre (even if it DOES limit the space)....
The El Capitan has a long and honored history of being the theatre where some of show business' greatest comedians performed. Following his WWII tours, Bob Hope broadcast his weekly radio show from the stage of the El Capitan for several seasons, and the theater was also the West Coast home of "The Colgate Comedy Hour", one of TV's first great variety hours in the early 1950's. The "Colgate" hour featured rotating guest hosts each week...and the hosts included Abbott & Costello, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Fred Allen, Eddie Cantor, Donald O'Connor, Jimmy Durante and others. Yes, the El Capitan is a fitting place to honor John Ritter....a gentleman (and from what I've heard and read, John WAS a TRUE "gentleman") who loved to make people laugh! |

It was Austin Tripper who said that about the party. |
