Post A Subject FOL Never Had...

I've began wondering how The Facts Of Life would have handled a subject like one about one of them getting raped (shades of All In The Family), or if they faced abuse in the hands of a boyfriend. If one of them ever encountered one of these subjects, who would you think would have better played it out?

Okay, now I'm REALLY embarrassed. When I said "rape attempt" I meant just trying to rape Nat, not actually doing it. Somebody shoot me.

What other topics did they not cover?

PS -- I've been going back to topics last posted a year ago and bringing them "back to life." There are some really interesting things out there!

They covered Teen Pregnancy in an episode where a former Eastland girl returned with her baby. She had gotten pregnant and then married. She left the baby with the girls, but later came back to be a "good mom" and be responsible.

Someone else will know more about this episode than I. I remember seeing it, but I don't know all the details about it. I would say it's a season 3 or 4 episode, so you might check the episode guide on the left side.

What else did they do??? Or, not do, I dunno....

Yes, like jayman said, they did cover teen pregnancy and I believe the episode was called "Baby About the House" or something to that effect... It was a very good episode, and got the point across.

Wow, there were tooo many issues that i wish made the scene onto FOL... i would say an ep where the girls actually did try drugs.. Dope just didn't cover it for me.. niehter did that one With a Little Help From My Friends becuase it was somebody else with teh drug problem... I think that teen alcoholism (a fanfic i am working on right now) needed to be touched... i'm talking abotu ALCOHOLIC.. not, "let's have a drink" and i was SOOOO surprised that they never touched on the subject of Smoking Cigarretts! Thta was a HUGE issue and still is! True that HIV/AIDS and STDs was never topicized (although in The Source Blair makes a comment about VD... an STD, but it was just a crack) also, gays/lesbiens. If you notice... my fanfics usually DEAL with "contraversial" issues that FOL either sucked at doing, I saw what FOL tried to do in a diff way, or they never did it at all. My latest fanfic was a topic of teen pregnancy. and do you REALIZE that there was never an episode from seasons 2-7 that dealt with shoudl i have sex or not? and the 3 that did were either stupid (i.e. The Facts of Love from season 1... which in an abstract silly way was funny during the sex ed class) or when Mrs. G wasn't even their!! (i.e Ready or Not and The First Time) and by then i would think that they were old enough.. hell they were all graduated form high school by then! I always thought that Eddie and Jo shoulda hit that subject since they were so series and long termed PLUS they almost got married AND they were eachother's first love... that's too many pros on that side.. i'm surprised they didnt' sleep together!!! okay... i'll stop!

I think the only time they touched on the subject of STDs was when Natalie was looking for a big story and Blair came up with
"V.D.??" Everyone oohs and ahhs, then she smiles and says,
"Valentine's Day!!"
Another episode that poked briefly about gay/lesbian issues was
when Blair insinuated that Cindy (the tomboy? I get her and Sue Ann confused) was "one of THOSE girls" when she was seen hugging another girl. And another, when Blair's sister Meg was accused of being a lesbian by her parents when she wanted to become a nun.
