I don't care what it is, as long as it's funny.

Would Cheers be considered a workplace comedy?? I mean some of the characters work at the bar but some just hang out there. They're not a real family but they're kinda like one....

Same here. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Designing Women" are great workplace comedies, but then I also love "The Nanny" and "The Cosby Show" which are family sitcoms. The main thing is the writing, not the premise.

When I was a kid, I prefered Family Sitcoms. But now, I go for workplace comedies. My 4 favorites are "NewsRadio", "Wings", "Taxi" and "Andy Richter Controls the Universe".

And as for the question about "Cheers" being a workplace, I've always considered it one. Sam, Diane, Coach and Carla work there.

Now The Dick Van Dyke Show, that was a mix between family comedy and workplace comedy. So I don't know which type to consider it.

Cheers...Taxi...definately work place. The attitude is different and you don't have to deal with the "Family values" episodes from time to time. Also when they are not really related to each other, the characters get involved with each other.

I prefer workplace comedies, but I do like both types of sitcoms.

both.

What would Seinfeld be considered?

and.... would Frasier be both?

But, Cheers beats them all, but as Brian said, as long as its funny.
