Default My theory on Crystal's character

I think everyone knows Crystal disappeared as the show went on and was just shown briefly after season 5. My theory is that they wanted Nancy to be in the episodes more and have more storylines because if anyone notices in season 5 that's when Nancy's character got more focused on (the whole lesbian thing, etc) and did anyone notice that's when Crystal started to be seen less and less in the series. Also she was out of the theme song in season 5.

It wasn't just Crystal, characters like Anne-Marie, Bonnie, the next door neighbours, just appeared and disappeared when the story dictated it. I guess Roseanne wanted to change direction - look at the people she hung around in Season 1-3/4 and then by the end when everyone was wacky, gay, etc. It was just a further way of de-emphasazing the reality part of the show that had originally been so popular. Personally I liked Nancy's character, especially one scene where she looks at this old couple in the diner and says to Roseanne in such a serious tone: 'that is the saddest thing...I have the exact same dress' . I think they messed up Crystal's character when they had her hook up with Ed, what was that all about anyway? It seemed as though they just wheeled her out at thanksgiving episodes.

Poor Crystal--just basically wallpaper. I don't know, but maybe she would've been good in her own spin-off. The series could've revolved around her being a single mom after Ed left her.

Yea I realized Bonnie was gone after season 4 too. I liked her character also. I liked Nancy in the 5th season but after that she just started to annoy me a little too much. I wish Crystal was in more episodes, I think her last one was when the first Becky came back. With Anne-Marie she was on a lot in seasons 4 and 5 but after that she was just kind of like how Becky was in season 9, on and off. I wish Roseanne would've done something in the last episode about Crystal I mean hell she even mentioned Arnie!

in season six there were two episodes about Dans dad and Crystal was in them. THat joke about Arnie in the last episode was quite funny but I dont consider that to explain where his character went everyone knew they divorced in real life so he kind of disapered in the show- the end of season 4 he was abducted by ailens which was around when they divorced wasnt it?
