Default Which "Archie" series do you prefer?

Just as the title says above, I ask you: Which Archie cartoon series that has run during the '60s, '70's, '80s or '90s do you like?

Personally, I liked the first series, "The Archie Show" that ran on CBS during the 1968-69 season, as this was an undiluted adaption of the comic books (and I REALLY dug the songs..."Bang-Shang-A-Lang", "Jingle Jangle", and "Sunshine"...does anyone remember how they used to press the records of these songs on the back of cereal boxes? I had "Bang-Shang-A-Lang" off of a "Honey Combs" box once {now looo-oonng *sob* gone...}. And they used to have a dance segment on there, too.)

What's YOUR favorite?

Default Archie's TV Funnies!

My favorite was Archie's TV Funnies because the Dick Tracy segments were much superior to the 1960s Dick Tracy Cartoon Show, and stayed true to the comic strip without adding unnecessary childish characters.

Also, Nancy and Sluggo has been my favorite comic strip of all time since I was 7, and seeing Nancy on TV was the biggest thrill for me at the time (I was 10 in 1971 when Archie's TV Funnies was originally on the air).

I even had my mom drive around town trying to find a stationery store that sold Nancy and Sluggo Comic Books, not knowing they stopped publishing them in 1963!!

Yes, Archie Comics was at its peak in the mid 60s thru the 70s but then kind of slid downhill after that, and the artwork now is HORRIBLE!! 60s Dan DeCarlo art in the comic books was the BEST, there has never been a better Archie artist. I watched The first Archie Show in 1968 till maybe the early to mid 70s.

I still have one of those cut out records from the back of my Honeycombs Cereal, and there used to be plastic poppers of the characters heads with a metal spring I used to get free in cereals too and also mini comic books in the cereals too. This was the late 60s.

My friend is interested in the original Sabrina The Teenage Witch cartoons and I already have all the Archie's TV Funnies Shows. We can't figure out why they haven't issued all these cartoons on DVD already! They could make a ton of money!!

True 'dat!

I think most of the Filmation library..."Archie", "Sabrina", "Groovy Ghoulies", etc. is still locked up in litigation or some such legal tomfoolery designed to keep these old favorites off the air and out of home video, which is a crying shame because a lot of these cartoons, particularly circa late 60s-early 70s, were quite entertaining in their own way.

Perhaps if the fans of these series raise enough of an outcry maybe we will get to see these cartoons again. I know I do!

Default Home Videos

Luckily I found a website toonarific.com where I was able to buy all the episodes of Archie's TV Funnies. I had a couple of the home videos of it that had been issued commercially many years ago, but i had been searching for all the other episodes. Finally I have them all.

But my friend doesn't have a lot of the Sabrina cartoons, though someone on ebay says he will be listing his in the next couple of weeks.

Default Archie's Fun House & The U.S. of Archie

I liked Archie's Fun House, which featured the line "And here's the star of the show, THE GIANT JUKEBOX!" I also liked The U.S. of Archie, which was a unique way to educate viewers on American history, especially when our nation was celebrating it's bicentennial.
