Wink Home Remedies to cure what ails ya

Next time you have an upset stomach, try a nibble on a York Peppermint patty and feel better instatly.

Clear up a cold sore in no time with Purell anti-bacterial hand gel.

Soothe a sore throat with Hershey's Syrup, take 2 teaspoons to coat and sooth your sore throat. Take as needed until symptoms subside.

If you eat Dannon yogurt it helps to fight allergies.

Got a paper cut? Simply rub Chap Stick on it stops the sharp pain cause by air hitting the nerves and helps the cut heal.

Get an insect bite... put toothpaste on it preferably one that has bakeing soad in it.

Got arthritis? Try French's Mustard. Squeeze it directly from the bottle onto your inflamed joints and rub it throughly. Or for all over pain empty the entire bottle into a warm bath and soak for 15 min.

Can't Sleep? Take a teaspoon of Honey at bedtime it acts as a sedative to the nervous system...usually within one hour. but it's not recommened for infants under 1 year of age.

Got fleas in your home? Pour one tablespoon of Dawn Diswashing soap into a 16oz trigger spray bottle Fill the rest of bottle with water, shake well and spray the carpet, upholstery and floors. The soap dries up the insects, killing them almost instantly. After 15 min of treatment vaccume the treated area.

Please feel free to add your own home remedies to the list.... hope I have helped some of you guys

Thanks for the info. I've read a lot about home remedies but some of those you listed are new to me.

For an upset stomach and nausea, I use the herb ginger in the capsule form. It's worked every time. Cola syrup also works well.

I'll try your tip about sore throats. I think sore throats are among the most irritating ailments. Also something in your eye and a toothache. When I get a sore throat, I try almost anything to relieve the discomfort. What seems to work for me is honey, a natural sore throat medication (honey is included in the product) and, surprisingly, vanilla yogurt. Sometimes, mint candy helps- the ones with mint on the inside and chocolate on the outside. Also, gargling with warm salt water helps.

For colds I take a lot of vitamin C (about 4,000 mg./day) and zinc lozenges.

The next time I can't sleep, I'll try honey. I like honey anyway.

You can swallow a spoonful of sugar to help those nagging hiccups.

These are beauty home remedies: Mix a 1/2 tsp. of sugar and a 1/2 tsp. or less of canola oil in a small cup and massage it on your face for 2 min. It's a cheap and great facial exfoliator.

Brush Milk of Magnesia on your face, rinse after 5 min. For oily skin and acne.

Skin Toner - Take a green tea bag and boil it in water, let cool. In a small plastic squirt bottle add 4 oz of water, then add 4oz of green tea. Squeeze on cotton ball and wipe on your face.

Hairspray - ( For light colored hair ) 1 cup of lemon juice, mis into 1 cup of boiling water. Bring to boil and turn off & cool. Pour into spray bottle. If you have dark hair use it spareingly, because it will lighten your hair.

Rub margarine around your eyes to remove eye makeup.

Daily skin cleanser - 1 tbsp. pf plain yogurt, 1 tsp. honey & a few drops pf milk. Whip up a batch & store in refrigerator for a week. Massage on skin, then remove with warm water or warm towel.

Deep Cleanser - 1 cup of oatmeal ( grounded ), 1 egg white, 1/2 tsp sweet almond oil, 1/2 cup milk. Whip together. Massage on face ( 3 to 5 min. ) Rinse with warm water.

Sunday Hair Wash - This is to get all the residue from shampoo's and conditioner's out of your hair. Beat 1 egg and massage on your scalp ( do this over your sink, it can get messy ), massage 1/2 to 1 cup of mayonnaise all over your hair. Wait 2 or 3 min. then rinse. Then shampoo with your regular shampoo and rinse. Some say not to use your regular conditioner, but I do then rinse.

I can vouch for that - as silly as it may sound, it really does work.

Yeah! I was looking for the name of the brand that did it, but I would up with nothing. However I got for a result:

Ellen joked about old remedies and indications you were sick in her book, the only one I remember is something like this:

If you're ill, try pinching the flap between your thumb and finger, if you can't-then you're ill. Come to think about it, some people might be so skinny that they don't have that flap (and I cant remember the rest).

But seriously- the thingy about drinking water upside downish for hiccups actually gets rid of hiccups for about 45 minutes for me (everytime I eat a burger at McDonalds I get hiccups-I hatem!)
