Default Blank tape trades

Does anyone here do what some boards do, accept blank tapes instead of trading for another show? I know some people do, but wasnt sure if anyone on here did or not.

I accept blanks in tape trades. I always forget to mention that I do when I post my list and get offers though.

I'm not quite sure what the usual ratio would be. I go by what the other person thinks is fair.

I saw somewhere that Druslover sells. So the question would be would you do blanks for someone you know that sells? This could be a good discussion.

Angie,

Why would this be a problem? I don't think there's much difference between selling and trading for blanks. I don't have a problem with someone selling or trading. Either way there is a compensation. I'm confused.

Still much of a newbie at the tape trading game,

Jen

P.S. My Batman trader came through, but I thank you for your kind offer.

Hi,

I'm pretty backed up in trades right now but I wouldn't just want 1 blank tape. It would have to be several. It also depends what show you want.

Why would this make any difference? Even when someone sells or trades backup tapes/discs they have a cost involved. For the trader there is the cost of the blank discs/tapes and the shipping charges. For the seller there is the same cost. The seller wants compinsation for there time to do your sets and for the wear and tear on there recorder or player. The trader who trades knows that this is also happening on the other end so it's a shared cost for both of them.

If the seller is honest they will not overcharge you for the backup service. Paying $100 for 10 tapes is crazy. But if they sold 10 tapes for $40-$50 plus shipping this is an honest deal. The tapes cost them 10-20 dollars, the shipping charge is $5-$10 so they get $20 for there time. This is an honest deal to me. Selling allows someone like myself who doesn't have a lot to trade here to start building a collection with out having to tape everything myself which isn't possible for many shows I want. Selling isn't all bad or illegal when you look at the copywrite laws in the USA either.

The only question about this to me that you'd have to wonder if trading blanks for dubs with a seller would that hurt your own sales? Sellers are competive so if that's the case, then sharing isn't a good idea with them.

I've recently set up a blanks for dubs trade with someone. We went off the 2x1 deal ratio. I sent him 20 tapes, he keeps 10 for himself and sends me 10 back, fair for him and myself.
