Sad One more season wouldn't have hurt

I think The Wonder Years should have lasted for one more season. Kevin would have been a senior, and the show could have dealt with some issues, about Kevin trying to get into College, and the reality of moving on after graduation. They should have had the final episode be a two-parter about Kevin's graduation. It just seemed impractical to end the series after Kevin's Junior year. They really should have let the show continue, for just one more year.

Guess what? It was supposed to go one more year! The original ending to the last episode didn't end with Kevin giving that little speech and wrapping up all the loose ends (not marrying Winnie, his Dad dying, etc). That was done very hastily when the shocking news was relayed to the producers and cast of the show that they wouldn't be renewed for another year!

So you see, they had every intention of coming back for Kevin's senior year. And I've got to believe that they wouldn't have ended the show on those sad notes had they had time to plan a real ending out. I wouldn't have been surprised to see the show end with Kevin proposing to Winnie and her saying "I do." IMHO, that's how it should have ended.

B&W "that's my only real gripe with the show - the quick, and I believe unthought thru, ending" fan

Default I know this

thread is 7 years old, but reading this i had to comment. I think thats completely stupid to run a show for 5 years only to cut it off the way they did. I agree, they should have let it go through his senior year and had them get married at the end. I personally dont agree with the ending of my fav. childhood show. People work through problems, if they were worked through their relationships they way they did, theres no reason Kevin couldnt have traveled to Europe etc during the 8 years Winnie studied abroad. I wish there was a way they could recanonize the ending to this show to make it more proper.

Atleast we got the 'hot' sex scene. I agree an all grown up movie now would be nice.
