Question Sam and Alice's Wedding???

"The Brady Bunch" ended its run with a lackluster episode. What do you think would have been a better plot for the final episode instead of "The Hair Brained Scheme"??? I think they should have ended with Sam and Alice's wedding.

I don't think anyone expected the hair tonic episode to be the last. Apparently, Robert Reed refused to participate. Sherwood got fed up and the Network dumped it.

It's too bad they didn't write a final episode. Greg goes to college, Marcia gets the attic, and only two kids left in each of the rooms.

I would have booted Oliver. He was a geek and not very Brady.

Alice and Sam's wedding would have made a good final episode. The family could look back on all their fun times with Alice, and they could show clips from past episodes with Alice's most memorable moments at the Brady household.

ANYTHING would have been better that "The Hair Brained Scheme"

Its the worst episode of the entire series IMO.

Perhaps when they found out renewal wasn't happening they could have all gotten together one last time to make a special "final goodbye" episode that would run as a special.

As Oliver said, in the last line of the series, "Just a suggestion!"

Of course, it was not the norm for series to have series finales in those days. There were some exceptions--like "Leave it to Beaver" doing a retrospective episode with June and Ward looking over a photo album.

Oh Urkel 2003, that would be so sweet! It would probably have made me cry if it had happened.

That was a strange episode. They have a photo album and one of the pictures is Beaver and Wally alone in the bathroom looking at a letter(?). How could a picture be taken when they were alone?

About all of the setups in that episode are unrealistic, especially when a picture appears in the photo album of Beaver & Larry Mondello sneaking a peek at Larry's sister's diary. I guess his sister had a secret camera in her room as a security measure and gave a pic of the snooping to Ward & June, who then posted the pic in their photo album.

I like that idea, too!

The problem is they had no idea that "The Hair Brained Scheme" would be the last episode when they filmed it. They didn't find out the show was cancelled until after production had ended for the season and they were on hiatus. (much the same thing happened to Sherwood's other series, "Gilligan's Island"). Had they known it was going to be their last episode I'm sure we would have seen a different storyline.

That's right - I forgot that everyone thought there would be a Season 6.

That would have been so cool, instead we had to wait until a Very Brady Christmas to find out that Sam and Alice were married.

That is not exactly true. The fact that Alice and Sam were married got mentioned on "The Brady Brides".
