Good Times Spin Off - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hello everyone, Just wanted to clear up any confusion in case there was some. I noticed some of the People that had posted were born in '75...makes me feel old. LoL Here is the break-down...

ALL In the Family was the Parent Show, which spun off Archie's Place, Mike and gloria,The jeffersons And Maude, which from Maude in turn spun off Good Times. Which if you notice at the end of all of theses shows, they were All produced by Norman Lear. I hope that this clears up any confusion.

trust me, you just opened up a whole new can of worms. But it is nice to know that somebody from that generation considers GT to be a spinoff.

Yes both shows were produced by norman lear but the two shows are in no associated with one another. Good Times has no connection to maude. Let me clear eveything up.
The Florida eVans and Henry Evans character were WRITTEN OFF Maude.

NOw, are you still following me? Okay. Those actors LEFT Maude to star in their OWN show that was a NEW TYPE OF SHOW at the time. The setting was Different and the situation was Different. Maude was based in NY and Good Times was bAsed in Chicago. TWO SEPERATE SITUATIONS AND SETTINGS. Hope that makessense.

Wrong!! Florida Evans is the same character on Maude and Good Times. There indeed is a connection.

If you pay close attention to the first 5 or 6 episodes of Good Times, everything that is said is INCONSISTENT with Maude. Here is the real imporetant question.

No one is arguing that there are inconsistencies, because there are. However, Florida is the same character from Maude. Even your own article admitted that.

First of all, Archie Bunker's Place was not a spinoff of All In The Family. It was just given a new name in the fall of 1979. The correct title should be Gloria & not Mike & Gloria as she was divorced from Mike. You also forgot to mention Checking In starring Marla Gibbs which was a spinoff of The Jeffersons.

You know, when I read the title to this post, I assumed that it meant there was a spin-off FROM "Good Times"...instead, it's the same ol' song we've been singing for too long a while, now...(Yes It Is! No' it aint't! You're stupid! Oh, yeah? Yeah! Stinkybutt! Doodyhead! etc., etc...)

I think I may have mentioned this before, but there WAS a spin-off, of sorts, from "Good Times"...produced in Great Britain, "The Fosters" was the story of an immigrant West Indian family living in the London ghetto, and was adapted from the first season of "Good Times", in a reverse of the procedure that had "Americanized" "Til Death Us Do Part", "Steptoe and Son", "Love Thy Neighbor", and, later, "Man About The House". I belive it may have run a couple of seasons over there, but I'm not sure.

Well, let the singing continue...
