Default Why was Lecy fired?

I know it was Lecy's choice to leave the first time and was replaced by that awful Sarah Chalke, but then Lecy came back for a while and then was fired so they could bring Chalke back. Yes, she was fired if you believe the newspapers at the time. I really thought Chalke was pretty awful as Becky and wonder what possessed the producers to bring back Sarah Chalke. Yuck.

I don't think Sarah Chalke was awful, but Becky was totally different when portrayed by her.

Sarah wasn't as confrontational as Becky as Lecy was.

The reason why Lecy was fired in season 8 was because she kept missing out on episodes and Sarah Chalke would have to fill in for her. I think Sarah was in about 4 or 5 episodes taking Lecy's place(the most notible and obvious is The Disney World eps). It was the same way in season 5, Lecy was in the first 3 episodes then she would just pop up once in a while till she was written out till the next season when they had no choice but to get a new ditsy dum blond to replace her.

if I recall, Lecy wasn't fired the second time. She only came back for season 8 because she was told it'd be the final season, and she put school on hold. She left at the end of season 8 for the last time when she realized she couldn't balance school and a career.

I do think Lecy should've been on the final episode though.

While us tv fans were robbed of the REAL Becky, I have to give Lecy proper credit because she knew school was more important than a fleeting tv career. She was good in Boys Don't Cry.

O'Malley - you have it right on Lecy's second departure. It was voluntary.

As for Lecy's appearances during season 5: she did two full episodes (in which Becky married Mark and moved away) and then left for college. She pre-taped scenes that were inserted into other episodes in the early part of that season. The producers hoped that she would return to tape more scenes or guest appearances, but Lecy chose to focus on her studies.

That movie was good, but very depressing.

Lecy was absolutly fantastic in that movie, she gave a strong supporting role and i think that this shows that she is by far one of the most talented on the show.
(everyone was good in that movie, well worth watching)

The reason Lecy didn't return is becuz she didn't sign on to the 9th season.
