Post Nat's more spoiled than Blair

Okay, for all you folk who think the board has gotten a bit dreary lately -- let's debate!

Tons of posts have been made about Jo and Blair's fighting. Lots have been made about Warner's ego and how spoiled and rotten she could be.

Here's my thought: It seems to me that Natalie (yes, sweet little Nat!<gasp!> ) was actually meaner and more of a genuine brat than Blair.

When Nat got angry or jealous -- look out! She didn't just talk a mean game, she followed through! It didn't matter if the target was Tootie, her Grandmom, Blair ("Green Eyed Monster", "From Russia with Love", "Kids Can be Cruel") she just went for the jugular.

Remember in "The Affair" when she blasted Blair just because she was miffed at her dad? Or how about in "The Candidate" when she was willing to withold the truth just to get what she wanted? Remember the rotten things she said to her Mom in "Dearest Mommie"?

This is not to say that Blair was perfect. Far from it. However, she never made good on most of her threats and would apologize when she was wrong.

It takes more than money to make a spoiled brat.

Agree or disagree?

I would say that Tootie was the most spoiled one. Remember when she had the fit over the Jermaine Jackson concert or disobeyed Mrs. G and went to New York on her own. Tootie was the one who drank Blair's wine and got drunk. She was also mean to her Mother!!

She also got to move out of the Eastland dorms(along with Natalie) to live above Edna's Edibles and also tagged along with Natalie when Nat wanted to get her own place.

Yeah..I have to agree about Tootie. She was also the one who held the grudge about Mrs. Garett leaving Eastland. Even though she was adorable in the first season..she soemtimes wasn't such a angel in the upper seasons..

Don't kill me when I say this, but I think that Jo was kind of spoiled, too. I mean, in 'Help From Home' she acted like a total brat when she slammed the door. And in 'The Secret' when she yelled at her father. This is just my opinion... anyone else?

Are we talking spoiled or selfish here? There is a difference.

I think that Tootie was the most spoiled, then Natalie. But, Tootie was just plain annoying when she whined. I lower my volume on the tv when a tooie whining moment comes on. Nat at least learned from her mistakes, at least more than Tootie.

Blair was not really spoiled, well she was in the way that she got eveything, but I think she was more UPPITY. There is a fifference. She was spoiled because that was how she was brought up - she was sued to gettin gthings so that was just her way. She was spoiled, but not SPOILED as in bratty spoiled. She was uppity.

I don't think Jo was selfish. She was however always on the defensive. But, can you really blame her? Like Blair, ahe was that way because that's how she grew up. Where she was, you couldn't trust anyone, so it was harder for her to "chill out". Also, the way she treated her father was because he head hurt her, and she never forgot that. She was agraid of being hurt again and also afraid of trust ing him, so she traeated him badly at first. In latter seasons she was very good to her dad and respected him greatly.

WHEW!! Ok, I'm done! (for now... )

I don't think we can say they were never a little selfish OR spoiled. Even Jo, she's from the Bronx and then she get's this (almost)care-free life in Peekskill. Even if you can't say she's a preepy from Peekskill, you can say she's a preppy from the Bronx.

Good point, Cokies. Compared to everyone else that she grew up with in the Bronx, Jo was definitely spoiled, too.

Probably compared to most of us that went to a public high school, all four of these girls were spoiled by going to Eastland but they did all work in the kitchen as a punishement so it wasn't all fun and games for them.

Good points, guys! (Though I never *ever* thought anyone on this board would say that Jo could be spoiled! <grin> She's always the local favorite!)

Don'cha just love thoughtful debate? <grin>

JMPolniaczek15 -

On the spoiled vs. selfish question, you're right. They are different.

I think of it like this: a "spoiled" person is used to getting exactly what they want when they want it and can get really rotten when it doesn't work like that. They have no sense of gratitude. Meanwhile, a "selfish" person has gotten what they want and have no intentions to share whatsoever.

So, by that definition (you folk may have another way of differentiating between the two) -- I still think Natalie is the most spoiled and bratty.

All 4 of them are spoiled. They are all 4 pretty selfish as well, ESPECIALLY Jo. Sorry, she's my fave too, but she needs to lighten up.

Default Well...

I think they were all spoiled and selfish at times. Like Blair got practically everything she wanted because she was rich. Tootie and Nat are kinda at a tie, because if they both wanted something they had to have it. Like in that one Christmas Episode, The Christmas Baby (I think), when they were gonna open their presents, Tootie kept doing something else, like making a toast and lighting up the tree, and Nat kept trying to hurry up so she could open her presents. And even in the Green-Eyed Monster Ep. Then with Jo, she wasn't really that spoiled, but there were times like when she wanted to get her parents back together and when she found out that they weren't, she got really upset, cus' things didn't go her way. So in some ways they were all spoiled at times. This is just my opinion though.
