What happened to Shelly Long? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I noticed John Ratzenburger's character's wife was played by Cindy Williams on the last episode instead of Shelly Long. (I can't remember the character's names, but they're the couple that was so perky.) Does anybody know why the change?

I was told she was "unavailable" for the two episodes. I'm guessing they'll stick with Cindy Williams when the new episodes return in November.

ohh.. Cindy is good in the role, so I guess its okay.

it's too bad though....lol I am a MAJOR shelley Long fan and I love the how they cast Johnny and her to play those roles....lol Cliff and Diane married...lol

hopefully she'll be back because I love seeing her on tv and it's great to have two Cheers cast members in the same show.

I thought Cindy was great in the role, too. I love her. And yeah, that name is just a BIT inappropriate.

I am a fan of Third Rock From the Sun, a great deal of whose episode names are puns on the name Dick, who is the main character in the show. I thought I was being funny by following in that tradition. My mind is not in the gutter. I am a virtual nun. However, if people are getting the wrong idea about it, I guess I will change it.
