Was there a character who battled back in forth with Archie after 1975? If not then - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

number 12 in the ratings
back up to number 4
and then down to number 9.

FRom 71-75, Archie battled with

Maude
George
Frank
Irene
Louise
Henry

Also his scenes with Lionel.

after 75, I can't think of one character who stood up to Archie besides Mike and Edith. Anyone know?

That could be a reason why AITF's ratings slipped, but I seem to remember from the E! True Hollywood Story or another AITF-related documentary was that the ratings slipped a little because AITF time slot (and day) had changed. For a long time, AITF came on at 8 p.m. (EST) on Saturdays and I think it may have changed to Thursday (?) or some other day. Maybe many people didn't know the time change, or didn't like the time slot? Anyway, that's what I heard somewhere...but your reason is good too. People may have lost interest in the show after 1975 because Archie didn't have the same battles as he used to. IMHO, I like all the seasons of AITF.

Teresa came to live with the Bunkers during the 7th Season (1976-77). Archie hated that.

AITF moved to Wednesdays that season and went up against Baretta which was then a hot show. That season ABC's lineup consisted of The Bionic Woman, Baretta, and Charlie's Angels. AITF was the only CBS show on that night that was ranked in the top 20.
