Default Problem Child?

Why is Mary always the problem child? Why can't they ever make someone else the problem child instead of Mary. It seems like Mary is always the mischevious(sp) one, why is that? I've never understood that. I would like to see another Camden become the mischevious(sp) one!!

I think there is a problem child in every family and if not in every family then someone knows someone that does.

Yeah, that annoys me too. I hate reading in articles how they describe Mary as a bad-girl type character. To me she isn't bad, she made a couple mistakes but now she's ok. I also get annoyed when the family members refer to her as "Crazy Mary" or something like that. I personally think that either Annie or Lucy are the craziest.

Default Mary

Why not? Why not Mary? There is usually one in every family, so why not her? Seems like was Matt was messed up at times, and Lucy too, and now Simon. Matt did the same thing Mary did by marrying someone not on the parent approved list. I think it's good that Mary makes big mistakes. Either that or everbody in the Camden family is a goody-two-shoes and there's no stories except who can out "be good the other".

Yah, I agree with you, but I would like to see Mary do a "good-girl" persona every now and again!

Well what gets to me is that in the begining of the series Mary was like the girl next door. She made some bad choices, but overall she was pretty okay. And then out of the blue, after the whole gym incident they turned her character upside down. They totally changed her personality and everything. Like she was very smart and then the writers made her almost give up on education and made her a flake. I understand the gym thing that was fine, but turning her character around after that just bugs me.

It was Jessica Biel's request to be kicked out of the show, cause she found it too 'family-friendly' and wanted to do some more daring stuff. So what else could the producers have done? I think it was a wise desicion to have made her chracther 'bad' enough so that she could move away and only be seen once in a while.

Yah, she was the one that wanted off the show.
