I think today's Sitcoms are not better than Sitcoms from 70's and 80's. And the reason for that is......
WB and UPN. They aired any type of sitcom year after year. These sitcoms on UPN and WB make no sense and usually end up getting cancelled. So I defintely think Sitcoms are getting worse season after season. |

Ya really shouldn't judge current sitcoms by the stuff that WB and UPN are cranking out.
There are some promising shows on the big three networks this season. Try to be optomistic.

I only watch about 5 or 6 current sitcoms. I'll try a few new ones out it doesn't look promising.

Most of the new sitcoms this seaosn have been dull because no one feels like experimenting anymore. We all have the same stuff now.Every show is either a Family show or a Relationship show. How many workplace comedies are premiering this Fall? I believe none.Get my point?

Just wait until 2004. With ELR, Friends, Frasier going off the air, all we have is the Simpsons. Of course that show will still be on when we are all dead.

Fox has the best sitcoms, IMO. Malcolm in the Middle is one of my favorites right now (can't wait for it to come back). CBS, with the exception of ELRaymond, is the WORST ! "Yes, Dear" totally sucks and "King of Queens" doesn't do anything for me, either. I can live without almost all of today's current sitcoms...the best ones have come and gone for the most part.

I think they've gotten much worse. The only current sitcoms I watch are The Simpsons, Scrubs, and Becker.

Well, I just watched Two and a Half Men and that was pretty good so maybe one of this years new sitcoms will do well.

I think the past 2 years have been better than say.... 5 years ago.
My favorite sitcoms on right now are, Frasier Even Stevens (its done, so nevermind) 8 Simple Rules According To Jim My Wife and Kids That 70s Show and King of Queens 5 years ago, I only would have watched Frasier (but I didnt start watching it until this year, so its useless) Boy Meets World That 70s Show (didnt watch it then) King of Queens (didnt watch it then) So, overall, they're not as good as the 70s and 80s, but they are improving. |
