here's a fanfic, read and let us know what you think....

"i'll be there for you"

SUMMARY: It all starts back in college when Cate and Paul meet. Fast foreward to when the family needs eachother the most.

cate and ryan
paul and jade

CHAPTER ONE
PROLOGUE
College Years

"Do you think he'll like me?" Jade glanced towards Cate.

"Ryan seems to love him like a brother so why not?"

"Do you think she'll like me?" Paul asked.

"I've seen her before, I think she's pretty hot!"

"RYAN! You have a girlfriend!" Paul exclaimed, shocked.

"Is he atleast cute, Cate?"

"I think he's pretty cute!" Cate smiled, blushing furiously.

"Cate! You have Ryan!"

"I know, can't a girl daydream?"

"So she's pretty hot?" Paul asked, casually.

"Paul! I have a girlfriend!"

"That's never stopped you before!" Paul laughed, watching Ryan's angry reaction.

"You know no one knows about that! Dont tell anyone! If Cate finds out--"

"I know, man, I know."

"When's the movie?" Jade asked.

"Seven thirty."

"What movie again?"

"True Grit," Cate replied.

"John Wayne?"

"The guys' idea," Cate shrugs her shoulders, and shakes her head. "I guess it sounds okay."

"What are you talking about!? You wont even be watching the movie!" Both girls burst out in laughter.

"Come on... get real... so high school..."

Paul tipped over his popcorn, spilling it all over his lap, "Aww sh--"

"For as a big of a klutz you are, you should be the one dating Cate," Ryan tried to play it off as a joke.

Cate spilled her makeup case all over the bottom of Jade's car, "Aww sh--"

"Again!?" Jade yelled. "That's the third time this week!"

"Sorry..." Cate said sheepishly.

Jade and Cate watched Ryan helping Paul pick up his popcorn from the floor, and discretely putting it back in the bag.

Jade whispered to Cate snottily, "You should be dating Paul, he seems like your type." Cate ignored it, and walked towards the guys.

The gang walked into the empty, dark theatre, and Paul couldn't be farther from Jade. Ryan, who noticed, stuck out his foot, and tripped Paul, not sending him into Jade, but Cate. The popcorn spilled everywhere--again, and Paul ungracefully falls into Cate's lap.

"S-sorry," Paul stuttered, shyly.

"Man, you trying to do the horizontal tango with my girlfriend?" Ryan asked kiddingly.

"Oh yeah, best horizontal I've ever had!" Paul smirked, getting a smack on the head by Ryan.

"Um, excuse me? Who are you here with? Me or Cate?" Jade asked, angrily.

"You."

"Then why are you still in her lap?" They both glanced at eachother, and slowly moved away from one another. They both didnt want to move away, but seeing the looks on Ryan's and Jade's face, they felt obligated to.

Looking at everyone, John smiled jokingly, "We can finish this later." And he winked. Ryan shoved past Paul aside, and sat next to Cate, giving Paul a dirty look, as the movie started.
