Default A Child Called "IT" By Dave Pelzer

Has anyone ever read this book. I bought it the other day and oh my god i felt so bad for Dave.

It's a book about a child named Dave Pelzer who is brutily beaten and abused by his achoholic mother. Some of the things she did were hanious! I cried so much and i just wanted to kill that evil woman and take Dave away to a safe place.

Anyone else ever read it? Just curious because it was a very emotional book.

I read it in 4th grade...the one after it was even harder for me to read. The 3rd one's kinda boring though.

Yes, I also read "The Lost Boy" and "A Man Named Dave."

I felt so sorry for him, reading what all he had to go through. But he has made it to be a great man.

Never read it, but it sounds like a really good book.

No, she tried to make him eat his baby brother's ****!

Plus, she tried to burn him alive, she starved him, she made him sleep in the garage and all kinds of other horrible stuff.

I never read the other two. But i want to.

Yes, I have read it. There are 2 sequels called" The Lost Child" and I can't remember the name of the last one! You will be glad to know that he is an adult now and doing fine!

There was supposed to be a TV movie based on the books last Fall but I have heard nothing more about it! Anybody know anything?

From his website:
A Child Called "IT"
The Lost Boy
A Man Named Dave
Help Yourself

I have to say, the law system back then was very ****ty towards abused children. For those who don't know who Dave Pelzer is, read this

This link also tells a lot, if it will work.

Default Is anything wrong with this book?

She is only abusing one child, her second child out of FIVE kids. Why wasn't she abusing her oldest, the third, the fourth or the youngest? Why did she treat him like that? She treated him like trash. She made him live int he garage, she said that he was "Ruining her life", made him eat his vomit, made him eat his brother's doodoo, made him drink ammonia, made him eat food out of the garbage, told his brothers to beat him up, forced him to steal food from school and beg strangers for food, made him do all the work around the house, got his arm broken, and many other terrible things. The thing was, she wasn't always like this. She used to be a caring, nice, sweet, mother. Out of the blue, she turned into this raving beotch who tortured him and terrified him.

My old geography teacher recommended the book (he got off track alot in class) and my brother bought it, so I read it. I was surprised about how little time it took to read, I think I finished without taking any breaks, it's a good book.

yes, I've read that book. It is indeed very sad but still a great book. While reading this book I felt so bad for him, his siblings, and his father. I just wanted to knock the crap out of his mother so much. How could anyone do this to their children?

I read this book when i was in 7th grade and it was so sad. I was so pissed at his mother. It must have taken a lot of bravery to want to get up in the morning and face the bitch who should be in hell for her actions and torture. He was a little boy-its not like he could defend himself-man its so awful. Im glad he wrote a book about his experiences with getting abused and then turning out pretty good.
