Question Henry to replace John?

Would you like the idea of Henry Winkler replacing John Ritter on 8 Simple Rules? At first I hated the idea of a replacement, but when I heard that Henry would be good at it, I thought that would be perfect. Henry and John were really close, so Henry would do a good job. Its hard to replace, but I think Henry would do a better job replacing him, then to go on without a father.

John was great, therefore he can never be replaced, I like Henrey too, so I chose undecided

I would love to see it, but Henry would have to pull out some of that "Fonzi" personality to be an intimidating type father.

No not replace him, no one can

I say if they want Henry on the show, then bring him on as an uncle or cousin of John's character, or even a long lost brother or something(I don't watch the show, so I don't know if he has siblings or not on the show)

I say leave the cast as it is right now and then gradually add someone perhaps Henry as a supporting character at first. He could become a regular in the 3rd season.

Yeah, he might be able to come in and be that best friend type, and kinda keep an eye out for the wife and kids, like ryan o'neal did in "chances are".

Henry was my first thought when they started talking about what was going to happen to the show, I mean you know that John would've wanted the show to go on, and who better to try and help carry the show.

As long as they arent trying to replace John's character, but add a new character, like an uncle or something, it should add to the show without detracting from John.

They could never replace John, but he deserves to have this chapter of his career closed tastefully, possibly with a retrospective of his talent remembered in the future episodes.

well he was going to guest star on the 4th episode - the one they were filming when John died - so at the very LEAST, you'd expect him to show up as a guest star.

I don't necessarily hate it, but I don't think you can replace John.

robyrob's idea sounds like a good idea, though.

I wouldn't want Henry to replace John, no one can replace him. I also don't think I'd want Henry on the show as an Uncle or anything like that either. I think the cast is great the way it is.

I dont think ABC even considered replacing John's character with another actor; we're talking about them adding a new character to the show to help support the show....

imho it all depends on what they were gonna do with Henry Winkler in the last episode there - they havent said what character he played, or how much of the episode was finished, and whether it CAN be completed or not...

I think the toughest part is going to be that first new episode after John's death... how do you continue it from there?

The whole thing is just soo sad, i'm just gonna keep watching 3's company reruns and stop thinkin about the new show until it airs...

You're all right-no one can replace John-he was wonderful on "Three's Company" & "8 Simple Rules" & will be greatly missed. I think Henry should be on the show 2 replace John's character. I heard Tony Danza was in the running for the show. Who's The Boss is coming 2 Nick @ Nite in May 2004-I luv that show! Does anyone besides me luv WTB? Let's chat on the WTB board! I'm Tiff7 on all the boards!

Johnny Cash, John Ritter, Bob Hope & Buddy Ebsen will never be forgotten!
