Shocking stories? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hey.. is there any shocking stories you've read in biographies of Andy Griffith or whoever on the show, that kinda surprised or shocked you?
Haha..I don't know anything about them, just grew up watching the show. I mean was Andy Griffith like the Andy on the show in real life?

I can relate 2 stories for you and you can believe what you want. I live in NC & My dad met Andy at a country store not far from Troy, NC which is where his first wife is from. He told me he came into the store got a bottle of pop & a pack of crackers and sat down to shoot the breeze for a few minutes with the others inside. He said he was really nice to everyone but only stayed about 15 minutes & left. According to my dad this was around 1963.

Now, lets fast forward to 1983 & the movie Murder In Coweta County starring Andy & Johnny Cash. Someone I know on another message board lives in Georgia where this movie was filmed. He said that people were everywhere trying to see or get autographs from Andy & Johnny. Johnny Cash, came out of his trailer and signed autographs for a lot of fans and left. A few minutes later, Andy comes out of his trailer and says, Get These God Damned people outta here!

One thing to keep in mind is that we love the tv character / movie actor in his roles, the singer on the stage, athlete on the field, etc, and often, the "real" person is different that the image we have of them.

I've usually heard good things about Andy Griffith and perhaps he did say that, but he, like all of us, is entitled to a bad day or a bad mood.

It was a reply, not a personal attack. I've learned that through personal expereinces with different celebrities and I was sharing that opinion.
