I picked up all three seasons of Spawn on DVD the other day, never having seen the show when it was on HBO.
I watched about half of the first season last night, and was amazed at just how smart and mature the show was. I was expecting some commercial crap like the movie. Judging from the first half of season 1, this show is amazing! Too bad it was cancelled after season 3 ![]() I'm gonna have to set some time aside and watch all three seasons back to back. |

I was a big fan of the Spawn series on HBO. It was very entertaining. I don't know why they decided to cancel it, but I think they just didn't know what to do with it. It would be a great series for Cartoon Network if they could tone down the violence, language and brutality.
But that's what made it so unique, don't you think?

Spawn was extremely cutting edge when it came out. The world wasn't ready for that and it disturbed a lot of fans of 1980's animation. It reminded them that cartoons are not always meant for children. Toning it down would be a horrible expirence. Todd McFarlen would never allow that. This was one of those great comic to screen adpations, they did a great job on this one!
Cartoon Network is not meant for shows like this. It could go on late night Spike TV with warning disclaimers. If you ever liked the comic books, check this show out! I loved it
