Default Does anyone here like/listen to hip hop?

Judging from a lot of the threads I've seen so far, I take it not many will respond as liking this genre, but you never know. Anyone into this genre? For those who are not, keep an open mind on the genre, as it's probably not all that you think it is. In other words, don't believe the stereotypes.

So for anyone who's into the genre, what's up?

I love hip hop. Been listening to the music all of my life. I just recently picked up a whole bunch of new albums:

Styles of Beyond - Megadef
Jedi Mind Tricks - Visions of Ghandi
Madlib - Shades of Blue (this would be an album to pick up even if you hate hip hop, but like Jazz music)
Cage- Weatherproof
and also Lifesavas...for some reason I can't remember the title of the Lifesavas album, but it's quite nice. Quannum puts out some great music from some gifted emcees.

Not a real big fan of hip-hop, but I am open minded about it. I'm not gonna critisize anyone because that is their preference. I do, however, like that song "Where Is the Love?" by the Black Eyed Peas....although I'm not sure if that is considered hip-hop. That song has a good message.

the only reason a lot of us who don't like hip hop don't like it is because the airplay it gets on the radio is insane. Pop artists can't even break the top 10 on the pop chart because of how up hip hop's butt the radio programmers are.

I liked old school hip hop, before it was dictated that we must "love it or else"

I like listening to old school favorites by the Sugarhill Gang, UTFO, Fat Boys and Grandmaster Flash.
