All 8 would be to continue this show without John Ritter! ABC should air the unaired episodes, perhaps together as another tribute to John, and move on.
If they tried to have Katey Sagal carry the show by herself, it would become too dark with her as a widow. And to replace John with an "uncle" such as Henry Winkler or Tony Danza would never work. (And hopefully, these actors would not even consider it out of respect to their dear friend John Ritter). Also, the comparisons to "News Radio" are not relevant, it was possible for that show to go on without Phil Hartman but 8 Simple Rules is a family sitcom that is built around the father, and without him, will just not work. And yes, John probably would want the series to go on. He was one of the nicest people in Hollywood, a real trouper and team player. But it would be the same as I Love Lucy without Lucy or the Cosby Show without Cosby or All in the Family without Archie and to get closer to the point, Three's Company without Jack. Without the central figure, there is no show. Kaley will get another series soon and have a successful career and the rest of the cast will also move on to other projects. John, we still can't believe it. You have left us way too soon. |

I agree, it would just be smart to call the show a day. I know there are shows where one of the stars died, and then they kept it going, but like it or not, this is not one of those type of shows. Everyone in the cast will find other work

I think the show is done for. It just will not be the same without John. If they replace him i swear i'll never watch it anymore!
RIP John.

I agree with you 110%, but lots of the child actors never make it all the way
so we may not see much of amy, martin, or even kaley but so far out of all of them we will be seeing kaley for awhileShe just gont done filming 10.5 for NBC(no airdate yet) and she also has her up coming movie The Hollow but of couse after that she may just go down and i dont want that but no matter what i will be supporting her and everyone else for along time. We will all miss John and it was so sad and WAY to sudden but god works in diffrent ways we will miss you john RIP
