A Sad Day in Three's Company Land - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I heard the news about John Ritter this morning and I was just completely heartbroken. I'm 23 years old and I grew up watching Three's Company. I can't tell you hard that show made me laugh. Whenever I would have a bad day at school, I always knew that I could turn to Three's Company and within minutes, Jack Tripper would have me laughing uncontrollably. It was the best medicine if you were ever feeling down.

After my local station stopped regularly airing Three's Company, I haven't been able to watch it very often in the last five years or so. This is one of the reasons I was so glad when it finally got a well-deserved spot on Nick-at-Nite. When I started watching it again after about a five year lull, I found the shows even funnier now that I was about ten years older! You just don't find that type of humor on television today. Today, you have sitcoms like Seinfeld and Friends (which can be solid in their own right), but nothing can compare to John Ritter in Three's Company when it comes to slapstick, laugh-out-loud comedy.

It's so ironic because the last Three's Company rerun I saw was when Jack had to pretend to be dead so a crazy guy named Max wouldn't kill him. Unlike some wacky Three's Company misunderstanding, it's just so sad that John Ritter's death is real.

Rest in peace, John Ritter. You made me laugh so many times and brightened my days whenever I had a problem. Thank you so much, and you will never be forgotten.

P.S. Sorry to ramble on everyone, but I just had to share my feelings on this subject. I usually never have this type of reaction when a celebrity dies, mainly because I never knew them personally. But in the case of John Ritter (Jack Tripper), I just couldn't help it.

I agree with all you said. I'm still in shock with tears. The only other celebrity I felt this way about was when Michael Landon died. But at least with him, I knew he was dying so it wasn't a *shock*, but still heartbreaking. Now, we lose John, suddenly, without warning.
