Default John Ritter dead

I just heard this on another message board, and checked Reuters and it appears to be true. I can't believe it....

I'm in tears, and shocked. I post mainly at some of the 80's sitcoms boards, but Three's Company was one of the shows I watched on N@N.

My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Whenever I hear about the death of someone famous, most of the time I'm not affected. This is one of those rare times I'm affected. I watch Three's Compan all the time. John Ritter was one of the all time greats. He will be missed.

I can't believe I didn't hear about this sooner, I subscribe to http://www.celebritydeathbeeper.com & they're obviously getting slack. In any event, it is very sad news for all fans of Three's Company.

Rest in Peace John.

Sad Tremendous Loss

I just heard about this on the radio. I feel so sad. Last nights Three's Company episode on Nick @ Nite (title "Boy Meets Dummy") had a scene where Jack explains to Felippe (sp?) what to do in the event of a heart attack. Too wierd. RIP John you will be missed.

Yes, I found out from the Chitchat board too. Then I turned on CNN right away, and heard the news there. Here's the written CNN story:

Friday, September 12, 2003 Posted: 5:22 AM EDT (0922 GMT)

(CNN) -- Actor and comedian John Ritter has died unexpectedly after he was rushed to the hospital for a "dissection of the aorta," his publicist Lisa Kasteler told CNN.

Ritter, who would have turned 55 next week, was the star of the ABC series "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter."

In a statement, Kasteler said Ritter was rushed to the hospital after suffering from an unrecognized and undetected flaw in his aorta.

Surgeons at the hospital tried to save the Emmy Award-winning actor but were unable to do so, the statement said.

WebMD.com described an aortic dissection as "an abnormal separation of tissues within the walls of the aorta" caused by high blood pressure, family history of the condition, disease of connective tissue, or severe trauma to the chest.

"Aortic dissection results in a weakened blood vessel wall that may also rupture," the Web site says.

Ritter was best known for his role as Jack Tripper on the long-running television sitcom, "Three's Company."

He was the youngest son of Western film star and country music legend Tex Ritter, according to his biography on ABC's Web site.

John Ritter was born on September 17, 1948. He is survived by his wife, Amy Yasbeck, and their daughter, Stella, and three children -- Carly, Tyler and Jason -- from his first marriage to Nancy Morgan.

Me too. The last time I was really affected by someone's death was Princess Di way back in 1997. The VERY creepy thing is, I was just about to send John Ritter a request for an autograph! I already had his address written down on my "To Send" list and everything.

Cool

I am totally floored. Im usually not awake at 5 in the morning, but my med class has study group today. Gosh, when I was a little girl I adored him thanks to Three's Company. I even watched all his movies and recorded them, even though the content should have been little interest to a younger child.

I think some news outlets may have been a bit slow to pick up on it, because they needed to do individual reconfirmations. Country WESTERN star Johnny Cash passed away also, and that may have caused a bit of initial confusion. Sean Connery was once reported to have died several years ago, and it was actually politician Sean <sp>Connelly?

This is terribley sad news for his family and friends. I am very sorry.

Man, this is really sad. I have been a fan of his since I was six starting with Three's Company. He was a brilliant physical comic and was also a great serious actor. His biography was on A&E a few months ago and it sounded like he always treated everyone from the actors to the crew with respect. You could tell that everyone liked him.

I'm not entirely sure but I think his youngest daughter's birthday was yesterday.

Too sad

So sad, so young. Leaving a wife and four kids. Last time i saw was a few months ago being hilarious on The Caroline Rhae show. He also appeared as the preacher on The Waltons and married Ted and Georgette on The Mary Tyler Moore show, but i will always remember him best as the best part of Three's Company, i LOVED him on that show, he was so great and he deserved every one of those awards.
