Here's an article about Gisele MacKenzie in yesterday's Daily News:
Gizele MacKenzie, star of "Your Hit Parade," dies BURBANK Ca. - Singer-actress Gisele MacKenzie, who became one of the early television's biggest stars through her appearances on "Your Hit Parade" has died of colon cancer. She was 76. MacKenzie died Friday at providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, according to her daughter, Gigi Downs. In 1953, MacKenzie, once known as canada's first lady of song, joined "Your Hit Parade" where regulars sang the week's seven most popular songs. In 1957, she left the show to headline her own musical variety program, "The Gisele MacKenzie Show." It lasted half a year. She returned to weekly television in 1963 as a regular on "The Sid Caesar Show." "She sang, playing the violin, worked on the sketches - she did everything." Caesar told the Los Angeles Times. "She was a wonderfully, wonderfully talented woman." MacKenzie began singing and playing the violin and piano as a child in Canada, studying at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. She appeared on her CBC show, "Meet Gisele," before moving to the United States. Survivors included her daughter and a son, Mac Shuttleworth. |

Aww..that's sad, I've heard of her. She was also on an episode of Bachelor Father, she narrated an episode of Boy Meets World.

I hadn't heard about this. I had Gisele MacKenzie paper dolls when I was a little girl in the 50's. I remember seeing her on television occasionally.
