Don't you guys think it was like soooo dumb that they made Fonz become a teacher in like the last episodes and he grew a beard and work...a pink shirt! I mean where is the REAL fonz? There they made a mistake! No wonder the ratings went down! They lost the Fonz! If you have anymore comments on the older episodes post them here!

I agree with you. Making Fonzie a part of establishment may have been a mistake. But one thing that the producers wanted to was have the characters mature as they became older. Even if it was a mistake to change Fonzie, I still think it would be interesting to see those later episodes again.

I agree. I would also still like to see some of the older episodes. Speaking of which do write to nick-at-nite and tell them that we would like it if they would show the later episodes. I will do the same thing and tell others too as well. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a list of signatures or people?

Oh No!!! I have not watched the last episodes and now I don't want to watch them ever. The fonz I know wears only a white Tee Shirt with a Black leather jacket......

I was disapointed that he became a teacher. He never seemed to like school, what with dropping out and all. Its like he gave in to the system. I hate school, and I refuse to get a job in one, or even go to college, altho I'll have to. Sure, he taught mechanics, which is aweseom, but to be in a school, something so different.

In television, like real life it is very important to evolve characters to keep some realism current. I mean the Fonz was still a man who had issues and dilemmas like any human American male in that period of the mid 60's. Like anyone who was alive and in tune as his character was. Fonzie needed to progress with the times. (eg. episode where he has a nightmare that he dated a ghost of woman who died in a car crash in 1955. He wanted so much to be wild and carefree as he was in his teens in 1955 he couldve died in his sleep, if he never woke up before the train hit that 1955 red chevy he found in the junkyard to fix at bronco.) At the end of the episode he throws the keys to Bobby a new shopkeep and comments" He has too keep up with the times!"
So the rockabilly ducktail image at some point had to evolve like anyone normal and especially cool like the fonz. Even Elvis wore bell bottoms, sported a beard. Brando ....well remember Last Tango in Paris? Change is good and Arthur Fonzerelli was one to be hip enough to go with it. His hair was never always ducktailed and he needed to grow up. Even my toughest craziest friends changed at some point even if they are not all there or in jail. The characters in Milwaukee, should be very thankful a an ex gangbanging hood became a teacher and decided to grow up and get educated to help some other young troubled youths. this is what we lack today in 2004 in real life and media. Today thugs celebrate gun violence and pimping.

One question I do have is how would the Fonz react today about the gangster image and youth in general. after all he would be easily about 55 years plus. I liked your point ..get back to me on it.
