Question Blair & Jo's Lesbian Subtext ???

Does anyone else agree with me that it is quiet evident that Blair and Jo were secretly sisters in Sappho?

Well, "Cokies," isn't this board created in the spirit of facilitating meaningful (and, yes, sometimes controversial) aspects of "Facts?" I mean, if you can't handle the lesbian subtext, then butt out of this conversation, but we adults find important social commentary here, and would like to discuss it in a forum free from your dogmatic restraints. If you look at the Jo/Blair relationship, you will find the common lesbian butch/femme dynamic, pervasive throughout 80s lesbianism. Granted, such labels are anachronistic nowadays, but that doesn't mean that we are "overanalyzing." If you can;t handle such topic, "Cokies," then just don't reply. We can have a dialogue without you. Thanks.

Why do gay or bisexuals always assume this? I think it is really pathetic, maybe it's just cause I'm not gay or bisexual. Is it me?

Sorry, but I was just expressing that you were digging a few too deep into the show. Fine, I can understand how you could see their relationship that way, but that's not how it was. They were Jo and Blair, that's all they were. The topic is tired, so get over it. And don't think I can't handle this topic, nor any topic for that matter.
So there you go, make of it what you will, 'gem'.

OK, nice reply cookies. I totally agree T! But, geminifixx has a right to speak his/her mind. We might not all agree with what geminifixx has to say but others out there do. I don't think that's what the show was implying, but I don't care to dig that deep into the show. Everyone has a right to speak their mind freely and they should be respected for that. That's all I have to say

actually, I am a gay male and always found the "Jo was a lesbian" talk to be silly and never found it serious.

They do kind of fight like an old married couple (i.e. The Ropers and The Bundys), but it wasn't quite as bad as the homosexual undertones of David Hasselhoff hovering at least 8 inches taller than all of his male costars on Baywatch.

Look, people can talk about the lesbian subtext if they want. Bugs me when people say "enough of the lesbo stuff." If it bothers you, go to another topic! Or create a new one! Thing is, when you're growing up in the 80s, knowing deep down you're different (lesbian), and you're watching TV, you tend to look for (or create) things you can relate to. I always wished Jo were lesbian-and sort of pretended that, deep down, she was-in spite of the fact that she had boyfriends (I had a boyfriend, too, until I figured myself out).
