Default Blige and Duff top Billboard

In a very tight race, and good selling week Mary J. Blige managed to surpass and get the number one spot this week on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart. Mary J. was able to sell 285,000 and Hilary Duff sold well above 200,000. Both very impressive.
Other hot shot debuts were Youngbloodz, and Nappy Roots.

That's the tough comparison to two artists. Mary J. Blige and Hilary Duff. The #1 album is "Love & Life" and the #2 album "Metamophosis". Both had album debuts. What's wrong with that?

Actually... the VMA's have an effect on next weeks charts. I could just imagine what that "kiss" did to Christina's sells.

I don't understand the Hilary Duff thing. Must be my age. I just find it funny that a hit tv show makes her a huge seller... whereas Kelly Osbourne had the same predicament and her album tanked. And Kelly comes from rock royalty whereas Hilary was just a star of a tv show.

Hilary Duff's "Metamophosis" album went to #1. Knocking Mary J. Blige's "Love & Life" on the top of the album charts.

Yeah, because preteens/teens are the biggest purchasers of albums and they make up most of her fan base.

That's so true. And most of her promotion is through the disney channel which is mostly watched by preteens.

Yeah, Hilary had a huge sales boost this week and landed the number one spot on Billboard. I haven't seen an artist actually jump their second week since a long time.
