Sad Really, really confused...

Okay, I have a question.

What exactly is it about Rebecca that makes it so that no one else likes her? I mean, I understand the whole whiney thing, but doesn't that just make everything funnier? Plus (and this is my personal opinion, so please don't be posting replies that totally diss me) I think she was a lot prettier.

Does everyone only like Diane because of her relationship with Sam? I was noticing on the "Diane Chambers or Rebecca Howe" messageboard, a lot of people said that they liked Diane because of the chemistry between she and Sam. That doesn't exactly show you like Diane, it just shows that you liked Sam and Diane together.

To all you Diane lovers- please don't take this post personally, I'd just like a few people to clarify everything for me.

I never watched Cheers regularly until Diane left the show.

So does that mean you're a Rebecca fan?

yea, I'm a Rebbecca fan. I've watched the Diane shows since and their not too bad but I like the Rebbecca years better. I just didn't like the way Sam and Diane kept getting together and then breaking up. I think that after Diane left the show became more of an ensemble. It wasn't the Sam and Diane show anymore.

Rebecca is my third favorite Character after Sam and Diane, Diane is just an ingenius, neurotic character who worked best when she played off of Sam, and the character of Sam was at it's best when Diane was around. I love Rebecca though, She is an awesome character to have around in the bar....but she's a predictable character. I never had any idea what Diane was going to do next ......it's true. Diane was insane....Sam was insane....they're insanity worked....Rebecca was neurotic....like Frasier, and they were both fairly predictable yet funny characters. Kirstie alley is a very beautiful woman....Though I disagree that she was better looking than Shelley, Shelley's gorgeous. In fact Tv Guide declared Diane Chambers as one of the funniest characters in tv. History. I'm a huge Diane fan and I still like Rebecca, and I don't just like Diane when she's with Sam because some good episodes about Diane weren't focused on Sam and Diane. and even after Diane left Sam was still my favorite character, they are both just better when together. But they still, in my opinion, steal the show seperately.

I liked Rebecca. Except in the end when she was extrememly whiny. I am sure almost everyone shared that sentiment. It was nice how the character developed over time. I didn't really like her the first few episodes but then the character really started to change and thats what made Rebecca fresh. The I think the writers took that way too far and made her sort of stupid in the last season.

Rebecca started out as a hard cold business woman. I believe it was in the last two seasons I didn't care much for the character. I don't blame her though, I blame the writers. I mean she was getting an allowance from her parents. She was a business woman. And in the last season, she was almost a female Homer Simpson. I also didn't care much about Sam and Rebecca getting together. It was much funnier (imo) when Rebecca turned down Sam over and over again. I believe she had more chemistr with the Woodman than with Sam. Rebecca was hot but Diane was hotter.

I like the Rebecca years but Diane just had this great chemistry with the rest of the cast.(even if they really didn't like her.) I will agree though and say that the addition of Rebecca helped change the show more into an ensemble cast.

I like the rebecca years better because the plots centered more around everyone then just one person but out of rebecca and diane I dunno I think I liked rebecca better.

I enjoy the Rebecca YEARS more than Diane years.

But between the two characters, Diane gets my vote.
As Maria said, she's so unpredictable.

Rebecca would have to be my least favorite character.
For me, she had the cheapest laugh in the entire series.

The episode with her father and the allowance.
She became too unbelieable, especially with "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!!"

I agree that Rebecca's first 3 or 4 years were much better than her later ones, when she ran the bar, I enjoyed her more.

Robin Colcord (a great character!) brought the end to the GREAT Rebecca.

You cant really choose I think. They were 2 entirely different characters. They both changed as the series went on. I thought they were both great for different reasons. Rebecca's whining is just hilarious, I also like how conceeded she is. Diane was witty and a quick thinker. The 2 were incredible.
