Thumbs down Nancy McKeon........selfish

Now dont get me wrong, I love her character Jo. But doesnt she seem to be a very selfish person, first of all I heard back in 1984 she threatened to leave the show if they didnt increase her salery, they eventually did raise her salery, so she stayed on. Now there's this, she wont do the reunion because she doesnt want to spoil her new image, if it wasnt for FOL she wouldnt have a career to begin with. Maybe if she seen what her character Jo means to a lot of people she would reconsider, and would do the reunion.

i mean, it's all a part of being famous. how do you know what was going on? i mean, maybe the other girls were getting payed more cuz they were on the show longer? you cant just jump to conclusions like that. and now, i dont really agree with this, but maybe she feels like FOL since it has almost been 20 years since she started on it, it's time to put it behind her and she wants to go on with her life.

all i am saying is that you cant just say that she's selfish when you dont know why these things happened! you cant assume cuz it makes an ass out of U and ME!

Look, none of us know Nancy so how can we say she is selfish?

I saw the True E! Hollywood Special and her agent said that she was making the absolute minimum for her first four years on FOL and the network was making millions off the show. All four of the girls eventually got pay raises but believe me it was nothing compared to what the top sitcom actors are pulling in these days.

I wish that she would make an appearance in the reunion show, too, because I never liked the way they ended the show and always thought it lacked the proper closure. But apparently she has her reasons for not doing so and I will respect her wishes.

While I wish she would appear in the Reunion (If there is ever going to be one) I don't believe Nancy McKeon is selfish considering how hard it is to be taken seriously after a long running show like FOL. Actors get typecast and never get a chance to prove how good they really are because directors and producers can only see them as THAT one character.

Also, Nancy refused to do the first two episodes of the season because she was getting paid very little, considering the success of the show. What she did prompted not only a raise in HER salary, but a raise in all four of the girl's salary. So what she did was put her foot down to greedy NBC executives.

So like I said before, I wish she would return...yet I will respect her decision either way because she has to live her life in a way that seems best for her.

Just my two cents.

*Jo and Blair rule!*

Nat: Look Jo if you don't get this scholarship you're gonna be back in the BRONX running around with the little pueblos!
Jo: Young Diablos!

BLAIR: Take them off JO!! I dont want to fail!
Jo: will you read my editorial?
Blair: YES!
JO: You PROMISE?
Blair: YES!!
JO: You SWEAR??
Blair: YESS!!!
Jo: i dont believe you (Ducks back under desk with a grin)

(Blair, Tootie and Jo laughing at Natalie)
Natalie: What?
(Continue to laugh)
Natalie: What?!
(Takes off her hat and looks at it)
Natalie: Oh good! Good!! I’m loosin’ a bolt! I’m working half wattage here!!

***Every Jo needs a Blair!***

Nat: A flash back within a flashback....! I'm so brilliant it scares me!

If it wasnt for FOL Nancy would not have a career today. Like it or not, Jo was the most popular character on the show, and killing her off would disappoint a lot of people. Is it asking so much of her to take a little time out of her schedule to do a reunion for the show that made her career....no, and thats why I think she is selfish.

Cool

All I want to say is that if Nancy doesn't want ot do the reunion she doesn't have to. I mean it really wouldn't be a reunion without all the main charactors there and what would be the point of having a reunion with only 3 main charactors there. (Kim Fields is not doing it either) But if Nancy made other commitments before she got offered to do the reunion show then she should do those. But I would really like to see her at the reunion but preferably not dead.

I really wish that Nancy would appear in the upcoming reunion movie. But, after all, it is her choice. If she doesn't, she'll upsent ALOT of people. Jo was the best character in the show, you can't just leave her out! She was the one that kept the show interesting. It makes no sense. How hard could it be took take a time out and STAR in a movie?!

i dont believe that this is true because Nancy got her career started when she was only two. true, FOL did help her career quiet a bit, but i still believe she would have made it even without the help of FOL. Nancy McKeon is a great actress and i would really like it if she came to the reunion show, but if she choses not to, i will respect that. i also believe that those of you who do think she is selfish because she has her reasons for not doing the show are selfish yourselves!

In the words of Jo Polniaczek herself," I've been in meat lockers that were warmer."
Everybody just take a deep breath... now regarding Nancy McKeon being selfish, I do understand how she could be taken that way, but we are not in her shoes. Given ,the reunion will not be the same without her but if that's how it's gonna be, than we will have to live with it I guess. It's her choice, but that does'nt mean we have to give up hope. Keep your chins high.

Does she have an e-mail address??? I would like to ask her myself why she isnt doing the reunion. If its for a good reason I will respect her decision.

Stanley Roper: I'm sorry Jack

Jack Tripper: Oh, thats ok, what did you do?

Roper: Me? Nothing, I just thought I saw something that wasnt normal, because it was normal, but, now I can see it aint normal, so, everything's back to normal again.

Jack: oh, well, I'm glad for you.

Nancy isn't exactly selfish, she just feels she has left FOL behind her.True,it did help her career immensely and if it weren't for her years as Jo,she might not have been in all the other things she has been in-but she just considers the show part of her past and doesn't feel she could return to that part.I wouldn't like the idea of a FOL reunion anyhow if that was the case.Too many of these reunion shows fail to capture the spirit of the old show-and if Nancy doesn't want to return to FOL-let there be NO reunion show about Jo being dead!COME ON,NOW!

only thing I don't get is why Nancy and Kim are both too "proud" to do a reunion for this show simply because they both had careers after Facts went off the air.

I think it is sad that Kim and Nancy are still remembering the 1988 pact about no reunion. Forgetting that Lisa, Mindy, Charlotte and millions of fans want this reunion.

Do a reunion for this show before it gets too late (ala Diff'rent Strokes will probably never have a reunion considering Dana Plato is dead) and all of the key actors should play in it.

Nancy might have a respectable tv movie career, but a Facts reunion would put her back in the news. People still love the show, and a reunion could boost the careers of everyone involved, as well as raise their profiles. The entire cast needs this reunion IMO.

see, that's the thing, nancy doesnt need a career boost. she is co-starring in a tv series on lifetime network starting in january7th and her amazing acting ability can find her many more jobs to come!

as my dad would say, you can wish in one hand and live in the other (kinda like that "rodSterrling" guy with the fuzzy dice-reality or fantasy) of course we can all wish that nancy and kim would do the reunion, but we have to give them their rightful space i mean common! they are just regular people!

i am sorry if i am being rude about any of this.

She cant escape it!!! She will always be thought of as "Jo, from The Facts of Life". Of course she will have her other projects, but if you go up to someone on the street and ask "who is Nancy McKeon?" If they even know who she is they will reply "wasnt she on The Facts of Life" and when she has passed away years from now, she will be remembered by the world as "Jo" and thats a fact. Nancy do the show for the fans!

I know, there are certain people who just cannot escape their image from a long-running show. It is possible though. Not a whole lot of people think of Michael J. Fox as "Alex from Family Ties" some people do, but now he's got Spin City, not to mention the Back to the Future movies. Other argument to that, Ricky Schroeder? Still Ricky from Silver Spoons, not the new guy on NYPD Blue. I think I forgot what we're talking about.... oh yeah! I don't think she's going to shake that image, and a reunion wouldn't hurt. Only people who are faithful to the show would watch it, it's not like this whole new audience is going to see her as Jo and suddenly make the connection. HOWEVER, I respect that she doesn't want to do it. It's her decision and she can do what she wants. It won't be the same without her though.
