I missed this episode last week since I was out of town, and didn't bother to tape. Anyone have any good thoughts on it? I haven't seen it in a few years. And I'm into X-Files, you know flying saucer crap...actually I only watch it for Mulder and Scully <g>. But seriously it was kinda funny, was it not?
I thought I remembered from before that Joe says something at the end like, "Maybe there's intelligent life out there." Looking up at the stars with Brian, since apparently we don't have any of that intelligent stuff down here on good ol' earth.

It has some funny lines, but it's not a favorite episode of mine. I like Brian's "The search for inteeligent life on Earth continues." (I think that's the exact quote. I'm not quite sure.)

I used to watch The X-Files a lot during the first 2-3 seasons. It was an OK show. Mulder is a hottie

I found it a little too confusing and just too graphic for my taste. I remember the episode when Antonio was on. I can't believe dear, sweet, innocent Antonio was once a serial killer!

yeah, that wasn't really one of my favorite episodes. There were some funny parts, but overall, it wasn't one of my favorites, personally.

I don't remember exactly how the line went, but at the end of the episode, Brian said something like, one of the great mysteries of the universe is why Decaf Coffee pots are orange. hahaha that cracked me up.

and about the X-Files- I used to watch it sometimes. Well, when it first started, it was too graphic for me. but then after a few years, I started watching it, and I liked it a lot. and then the season (or seasons?) when Mulder was missing, I think it got kind of boring, he was one of my favorite characters. I mean, it was interesting that they were trying to find him, and all the mystery and stuff, but the show wasn't the same without him as a regular character. But oh, I remember when Agent Dogget (or however you spell it) joined the X-Files... I remembered the actor who plays him from "Terminator 2". That guy freaked me out in that movie! so I was like, "AAAAAAAHH!" but as soon as he started talking on the X-Files, it was like, "bummer. that guy's not scary anymore." lol.
oh! and I think I vaguely remember seeing the episode with Tony Shalhoub one time...

I guess I'm in the minority because I liked this episode. There's a few lines that I've always liked. Just after the guys see their sighting, Brian's talking to Fay, Roy, & Helen about it, then they start talking about "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Helen makes the comment, Yeah, and who knew Truffaut could act. That line tickles me because I'm such a fan of Close Encounters and it's one of my favorite movies. If you aren't familiar with any of this, Francois Truffaut was a famous French director, and he played a big part in Close Encounters. One of the very few American films he was in, if not the only one.

Another line I liked was when Joe & Brian were talking to the people who showed up, who said they saw the sighting also, and Joe changed his mind about telling anybody about their sighting. So Brian says, "Oh, so, rats who desert a sinking ship, can get right back on. OK."

oh yeah, I did like that part too, because I also like that movie. ...Almost every time I eat mashed potatoes, I sculpture them into that weird mountain thing (it's been a while sine i've seen that movie. lol)

Thanks guys. That helps me remember it better. I had forgotten about the convo w/Brian and everybody about Close Encounters, and also about them taking the UFO nuts up in the plane.
I like Close Encounters too. Wes Anderson is going to make a dark-comedy type movie about oceanographers like Truffaut. Bill Murray's supposed to be in it. Should be good. If you like movies like the Royal Tennenbaums, and Rushmore.
