I think the friendship of Laura and Millie is a suburbian version of Lucy and Ethel. There were a lot of similarities between those four women. Too bad the show never did more storylines with Millie and Laura. Personally those two are very funny and compliment each other well. They were underrated in many respects as a female comedy team.

I think the funniest episode of the Laura/Millie friendship was "Long Night's Journey into Day" when they were so frightened while the guys were away.

Laura and Millie are maybe my
favorite "secondary" (?) team on the show. Their scenes always work and never drag down the show in any way. It's fun to watch them together. Alan and Mel are good too. I always like to see the only extended scene with Rob and Millie by themselves in "The Death of the Party." Seems unusual but it kinda works. I wish they didn't always edit part of it. I think Millie mentions how unusual it is. Millie's good. I'm glad she'll be in the reunion. It's funny how little groups formed within the show. I notice how Buddy and Sally always seemed to watch out and take care of each other within scenes. I love how Millie switches gears in "Long Night's..." and comes out with "You hit me again and I'll slug ya!" to Laura. That's funny stuff. |

I think the sudden ending of the show while still in it's prime cheated us out of many things, the friendship between Laura and Millie being one of them.
With all of the directions the show went in in it's run, they never got much into the zaniness that could have taken place with these two, and I think they would have. Remember "Three Letters From One Wife?" Yep. We got cheated. Steve |

I love the relationship between Laura and Millie. They truly complimented each other. One of my favorite Millie lines is in the episode "Empress Carlotta's Necklace." Laura laments "What am I going to do?" and Millie responds, "Wear it to a bad neighborhood. Maybe you'll get held up by a thief with bad taste."
I love that line!!! Lolac
