Default "Duet For Plane and Cello"

I just watched this episode. first time I've seen it.

SAD! *sniffle*

it was a funny episode, and that fight between Joe and Helen with the grease gun, and fire extingiuisher, etc was really funny.

But the ending was really sad.......

goodnight, everyone!

Yeah, this is definitely one of my favorite episodes....it will always make my top 10 list!

Just watching it again I still can't believe Helen dumped Joe like that....Tim did a great job in that final scene.

The fight sequence was classic. When Crystal gets hit by the extinguiser and her hair blows straight up (lol)...that is great , and then when Joe gives her another quick shot and her hair completely covers her eyes that's even better! I have to imagine they did that entire sequence in one shot...but man that worked perfectly.

WOW...What a kick in the gut THIS episode was! I WILL say that after watching this one, Joe doesn't seem like the "big rat" for dating Gail that I thought he was BEFORE watching this. His dating someone else is certainly understandable given how Helen walked out on him...He didn't deserve that!

Something about the Joe-Helen fights....whether it's dueling with fire extinguishers and grease guns, or slapping each other with raw meat, their physical fights are always funny....

I can't say the same for Sam and Diane on "Cheers". Remember that famous fight on "Cheers" that broke up Sam and Diane? The one where they slap each other in the face and end up grabbing each other by the nose? I never found that very funny....in fact, I found it kind of upsetting. It seemed more like real physical abuse than funny comedy....but I never get that unpleasant "physical abuse" feeling with Joe and Helen. Tim and Crystal had a way of injecting a certain silliness into the fighting, so it became more cartoon-like than ugly and hostile.....

Heck, if Joe could pull off kicking Helen's CRUTCH out from under her and still make it funny, that's really SAYING something!

The fight between Joe and Helen is a favorite scene of mine "You stab the plane and the cello here gets it!" Helen dumping Joe was so sad.

I agree with Pilotguy about Joe and Helen's fights. They were so funny. Sam and Diane didn't seem funny when they were fighting at all. I never thought they had any real chemistry, unlike Joe and Helen. I never could stand Diane. I always found her so whiny, self-absorbed, and snotty. I never could understand what Sam saw in her, other than her looks.

On the subject of fighting sitcom couples, I am getting so sick and tired of the fights on Everybody Loves Raymond. They're getting to be borderline abusive. I have no problem with feuding couples on TV as long as it is done tastefully and in good humor, like on Wings.

An interesting note on "Everybody Loves Raymond"....My father passed away from cancer two years ago. Before he got sick, he and my mother used to watch "Raymond" faithfully and laugh along with it.

After my father died, my mother was able to watch some of her favorite shows...but not "Raymond". Now that my father's gone, my mom cannot bear to watch the way that Raymond's mother talks to and about her husband. Granted, Raymond's father is no prize, but my mother just can't stand watching that petty bickering and family tension any more.....

However, I DID do a "good son" thing for her...I turned her on to "Wings"!
She doesn't stay up to watch it, but every week I stop by at her house and drop off a new batch of videotaped episodes for her to borrow and watch.
She's 75 (but a "young"-acting 75) and she REALLY loves the show and it's characters. Her favorites are Antonio, Lowell, Fay and Roy....she doesn't talk about Joe, Brian and Helen too much, but I know that she enjoys watching them too!

My condolences to your father, Pilotguy. Cancer is a horrible disease.

All that petty fighting, bickering, and tension on "Raymond" has really turned me off to the show. I used to love it, but now I cringe when I see it on. I still watch some of the very early episodes though. Some of them are pretty funny.

I think the show is very over-rated. I don't know how the critics all rave about it, but diss Wings. I think Wings is far funnier and the characters are much more likeable.

I never liked Everybody Loves Raymond. I guess Ray Romano is a good comedian, but for a sitcom, BOR-RING, as Lowell would say .

I have seen these epis before, and I am TOTALLY on Joe's side. Helen should have known to leave him like that that she shouldn't have unrealistic expectations like that, but umm, well, it has to be there for the comedy and the tension, so yeah okay.

Love the grease gun/extinguisher fight. I think Helen is really the only one who can get straight-laced Joe to let all his tight arsedness go, and get into a dirty, gritty all out fight! She is truly evil...claiming a truce, and she LIES!! Joe should have got her good sometime during the series.

Great acting in the fight scene. Then again, this show always has great acting. I loved that this scene was taped in front of a live audience because I noticed that there was a reaction from the audience when Joe made the comment that Helen has the cello between her legs 8 hours a day, and then Helen saying at least that gives me some satisfaction.

Oh yeah, and another episode of "Men dancing with each other". Of course, talking about Lowell & Joe. I forgot about that part!! And I loved it!!
