Even though Boston has the easiest schedule for the month of September, I don't believe that they'll make the playoffs this year. I just can't see Seattle missing out on the playoffs two years in a row, and I seriously doubt that the A's wont make it. They are just way to good in September, so I have to go with Boston.
Which of these teams do you guys think will be left out of the playoff picture this year? |

This is how the 3 teams schedules' look starting with games on September 3:
SEA @ Tampa Bay (3) (should win all 3) @ Baltimore (3) (should win 2 out of 3) vs. Texas (3) (should win all 3) vs. Anaheim (3) (should win 2 out of 3) @ Texas (4) (will probably split the series) @ Oakland (3) (will probably lose 2 out of 3) @ Anaheim (3) (should win 2 out of 3) vs. Oakland (3) (should win 2 out of 3) Total: 17-8 Final Record: 98-64 BOS @ Chicago White Sox (1) (should win that game) @ New York Yankees (3) (will probably lose 2 out of 3) @ Baltimore (3) (should win 2 out of 3) vs. Chicago White Sox (3) (will probably lose 2 out of 3) vs. Tampa Bay (4) (should win 3 out of 4) @ Cleveland (3) (should win 2 out of 3) vs. Baltimore (4) (should win 3 out of 4) @ Tampa Bay (3) (should win 2 out of 3) Total: 15-9 Final Record: 95-67 OAK @ Baltimore (3) (should win all 3) @ Tampa Bay (3) (should win all 3) vs. Anaheim (4) (should win 3 out of 4) @ Texas (3) (should win 2 out of 3) @ Anaheim (3) (will probably lose 2 out of 3) vs. Seattle (3) (should win 2 out of 3) vs. Texas (3) (should win all 3) @ Seattle (3) (will probably lose 2 out of 3) Total: 18-6 Final Record: 101-61 So, by these predictions....Boston would be left out of the playoffs in the AL in October. |

Oakland won 10 straight.
At least the streak is over. I hope Boston, but I am prepared for the worst, with Seattle missing out.

It looks like it's no longer a three team race. The Yankees lost to the Red Sox tonight, so now the Sox are only two and a half games behind them. There is a very good chance that the Yankees will miss out on the playoffs this year. The Sox still have two games to play with them, and if they win both games, they'll only be behind by a half a game. As much as I dislike the Yankees, I hope they win the final two games. The race between the Mariners, and Boston is way to close for comfort for me.

Mariners are hitting again, and the pitching has always been good. Watching Edgar Martinez play with a borken toe has inspired the team. We may still win the West!

Boston's scenario for a playoff berth....... 1. Win any 4 of their last 6 games (assuming Seattle gets on a final winning streak) 2. Seattle must lose at least 2 (maybe 3) games in their remaining schedule 3. If teams wind up having tied records after the season ends....Boston wins tie-breaker 4-2. * The Red Sox control their own destiny at this point, while Seattle needs a little help * |
