Post About Best Sister (for those who saw it)

I have one HUGE question... how come lisa whelchel could play blair who DOES NOT believe in God... but she cannnot be in an episode where natalie has sex before marriage?? if you can answer that i'll give you 1 millino bucks!!! and i thought it was GREAT to see jo finally hit blair.. but it was all wrong.. was it me or did this episode seem kinda weird cuz jo was too goody goody?? I always thought that jo should be nicer and stuff cuz she's always soo mean.. but now that i've seen her nicer side... i dont want that!! but i woulda hit blair way before jo did!! she was being a total bitch!!! jeez... anyways... i thought that was rather funny how mrs. g was trying to have a sex talk with jo... I was thinking ot myself.. mrs. g is tryign to give jo a sex talk.. and then tootei goes mrs. garrett are you talking abotu sex again and mrs. g is kinda trying to change the subject... and act like tootie's too young to hear about it... well how come she can teach tootie abotu sex when tootie's like 11, but not when tootie's 14?? i thought that was rather weird... anyone else agree??

I've been thinking about how to say this and I think I have the words now. I think that when Lisa agreed to do this episode she saw it as a way to reach out to someone who might be in Blair's situation. Something may have happened that they lost their belief in God, like Blair, and by doing this episode they would see that God still existed. She could, in effect, reach out and bring someone back into their faith. I hope that made sense. The episode was hilarious. Jo's nice act kept me laughing through the whole episode and Blair deserved what she had coming.

These were good episodes, especially the 2nd that looked at why Blair was so venomous toward religion. The talk between her and Mrs. G was really poignant. (Then again, being awake at 3:30 am tends to make me feel weepy anyway. ) Eve Plumb, aka Jan Brady, did a good job as Meg. But I did think that punch was pretty phony! LOL

One thing I was curious about was why Jo's boyfriend guy looked like he was using a batting helmet as his motorcycle helmet. weird.

The First Time and Best Sister were filmed way apart from each other. Lisa Welchel had originally agreed for Blair to lose her viginity at the end of one season, but, as she got more involved in religion, she decided not to. I'll bet that if Best Sister was filmed in the late 8th or 9th season, Lisa wouldn't have let Blair say that.

i thought the same thing about Blair and God and I came up with the same answer I think she saw it as an chance to reach out and tell people about God and from what I've heard Nancy is also very involved in her religon.

I thought it was really great when Jo finally hit Blair. She had it coming for the longest time. I, too, was cracking up when Jo said she wanted to be a nun. I can't imagine her in the "penguine" suit!

I agree with the reaching out thing, but maybe it was just a way to tell people, even when they go away from God, you can always come back. I think Lisa just wanted to prove that no matter how stubborn you are and how far away you are from God, He always loves you and wants you to turn around.

Am I the only who wishes Blair would hit Jo?! I mean, Season 2 is airin' now, and Jo is meaner to her than Blair ever was!! Just look at this excerpt from "Cousin Geri":

------------

Jo: "She's just upset cause there's a Warner out there who's not perfect."

Blair: "Jo, please. That's not it."

Mrs. G: "Jo, would you excuse us?"

Jo: "Sure. You know what, Blair? You are perfect. Perfectly rotten!"

Mrs. G: "Jo!"

Jo: "Alright, I'm goin', I'm goin'! Sheesh..."

Blair is very sensitive, vulnerable, confused, concerned, and Jo is bein' a total b*tch to her! I hate it when she gets like this!

And then that whole thing when Jo accidentally reveals that her dad was in prison, and she totally blows up at Blair---who is innocent!! ARRRRGH! Thank goodness she lightened up later...

You have to admit though, Blair brought a lot of it on herself. She was always acting so arrogant around Jo and looked down upon her. Jo was teased enough as it was while she was at Eastland. With Blair dishing it out Jo just did the only think she knew, stick up for herself.

In the later years it was usually in teasing though. If they hadn't acted to each other the way they did they would have never turned out how they did...hmm

ks, I totally understand what you're sayin', and I completely agree. But I'm meanin' in particular scenes like the one I quoted above, where Blair did absolutely nothin' to insult or tease Jo (in fact, I don't think she did once durin' the entire episode). It's when Blair doesn't bring it on herself that bothers me.

And like when Jo accidentally ratted on her dad, too---again, 100% innocent Blair (if I remember correctly, lol).
